I agree! However, I don't see it as anything other than a social skills Anti-Talent....

Anyway, I think I have a suitable mix of skills for the Talent I'm looking for:

Artisan
Skills: Armoury, Artist (Pottery, Sculpting, and Woodworking), Carpentry, Engineer, Jeweler, Leatherworking, Machinst, Masonry, Mechanic, Sewing, Smith, and Traps.
Cost: 10/level (Alternate Cost: 12/level).
Reaction Bonus: Same as Artificer.
Alternative Benefit: Each level of the Talent reduces the material cost or time needed (pick which at the time you roll) to create, repair, or maintain an item by the wider value of -10% or -(margin of success)%, up to a maximum of -50%.

I say "wider" as I'm not sure if it'd be "greater" or "lesser" in this case, given negative percentages are involved. An MoS of 11 should give -11% per level of the talent. I'm open to suggestions on how to adjust the Alternative Benefit to make it less clunky in word and/or play.

I would say "by the better of 10% or a percentage equal to the margin of success." (Since you have already said you are reducing it by that much, the size of the reduction should be listed as a positive, not a negative, number.)
