blacksmithing, rules for time/skill/cost of producing weapons and armor?
Was enjoying the Armor Vendor in Hearthstone and it got me wondering if you wanted to make money this way or perhaps to equip your army of zombies with good protection/offense how you'd go about doing that.
B221 has relevant skill... was scanning the Low-Tech glossaries but nothing jumped out at me. Not sure if this might be related somehow to Gadgeteering? |

Low-Tech Companion 3, Daily Life and Economics, chapter 5, "Manufacturing." Definitely nothing to do with gadgetering, unless you're at a TL where armour is new technology.

Re: blacksmithing, rules for time/skill/cost of producing weapons and armor?
The Low Tech Companions have these rules
Keep in mind that producing something as simple as a knife for a competitive price at TL 3+ involves at least three different trades (the bladesmith who forges it, polishers who grind it, and the cutler who hilts it and sells it) and has a minimum product volume in the dozens or scores. In a culture with cities, one character plus unskilled assistants making weapons and armour is very inefficient.

Makes me wonder if the day you need to study the Weapon Bond subject if that means an 8h work day and if they need to actually be fighting or just sitting around. Not to mention if ever there might be ways to make a weapon suitable for a weapon bond with multiple users, perhaps of similar physiques. Or maybe even if someone changes so much (limbs lengthen?) that they lose a weapon bond. Maybe sacrificing WB perks to buy other stuff when transforming. |
