Default Borrowing items

Hey, is borrowing items legal? For example: 3 players: A, B, and C:

A's turn. A draws door card, and it's a monster. Neither B nor C has enough power to help. Can B take some items from C

Quote:
"Trade an Item with another player (the other player may not be in combat, either)" - in the manual there is:
Quote:
"You may perform these actions at any time, as long as you are not in combat"
then change these items

Quote:
"Change which Items you have equipped" - in the manual there is:
Quote:
"You may perform these actions at any time, as long as you are not in combat"
And THEN accept the plead from A, help him win, and after the fight just "trade" again with C, to hand him back these items.

Is it OK with the game rules?

If both B and C are amenable, I see nothing against the rules in that plan.

That said, if I were C, I'd want to get something out of it -- maybe in addition to the return of all my stuff, I'd get that Wishing Ring that B has been hoarding.

Hmm this gives me another doubt - which (or what) "deals" exactly are enforced by game, and which are dependent just from player's whim and can be broken? For example if I offer my help for 2 treasures, can the other player give me any other (less or greater) number of treasures than 2? Or - with the example from the first post - B player could just keep these items for himself? Or accept "ok, I will give you my Wishing Ring" and then just say "lol you believed me? What a sucker..."? :P

By the rules as written, deals that can be fulfilled on the same turn must be, to the best of the players' ability (and in cases of ambiguity, resolve the ambiguity to the benefit of the helper, since she's the one who volunteered to join the fight). Deals that are for future action (or inaction) are not strictly binding, but if you become known as someone who abrogates agreements, you're unlikely to get help when you need it.

In my games, if you make a deal and then try to back out, I'm going to be pretty salty about it and probably ban you from the table. That's the real enforcement mechanism here: social pressure.

Ok, thanks for clarification :) We were always playing with no rules about "contracts", because contract uis almost useless when anyone can just break it. But now it should be much more interesting :)
