I'm a little confused over the rule book in Battlefields (v6.3) - is it different from the version in Battlebox (v6.2) ?

A quick scan through makes me think not but, if there are any changes, I'd like to know what they are.

Does anyone have a definite answer to this query, one way or the other ?

On the card thickness issue ...

I don't have ODE, just Battlefields plus the counters from 6th Ed & Reinforcements and consistency there is good so why the problem.

I didn't go for ODE simply because it was too big, far more than I'd ever use and a major problem for storing and accessing it easily in my limited space. I can see why, with so many counters, a small decrease in thickness could have made a major difference in both cost & weight though - surely those are good decisions.

The main changes I'm aware of are the header page having Battlefields-specific content. There is a minor rules edit in section 2.x

2.01.2 has a new crater type (cold crater)

I couldn't see any changes and just missed that one as I didn't realise that was a new item of terrain.
