Just to clarify for any newcomers and as has been pointed out many times before, javelins are not cutting weapons and so cannot be made fine to do more damage.

A fine javelin (not a cutting weapon) may still do +1 damage, just not +2.

ITL 123 says polearms, hammers and maces (and others), in the opening sentence of the fine section, may do extra damage. As hammers and maces are not cutting weapons, it clear means all listed may do at least +1.

Second paragraph says cutting weapons may have +1 or +2. This is where hammers, maces and javelins (I also would add tridents) are limited to +1 damage.

Correct. Henry mentioned very fine.

Your comment is much appreciated! I had started to consider that using a javelin and shield might be a nice option. Kind of started to think of those scenes in the film Troy, where Achilles is fighting with the Javelin, and I seem to recall he "disengages" a lot to take advantage of his weapon.

As for the fine and very fine options in TFT, I'll keep them in mind.

Thanks all!
