Re: Game: Guess the (historical) character!
I confess that there is an element of guesswork involved in declaring him asexual, but, on the other hand, he was notable in having no wife, lover or reputed sexual partner of either sex over his whole life.

Re: Game: Guess the (historical) character!
Just so.
A remarkable man, probably the greatest military man of his age, and that an age which counted many of the greatest in history. He won battle after battle against Roman armies, full of veterans and commanded by experienced officers. This while he was commanding colonial Spaniards he had taught Roman arms drill himself. The Animal Friend was because of the white fawn Diana. Sertorius was noted as being kind to animals and for them being attracted to him.

Is this Gráinne Ní Mháille ("Grace O'Malley"), by any chance?

Re: Game: Guess the (historical) character!
Did she have reputation(Fnord)? She was just another petty warrior-prince and the only thing remarkable about her was being female.

Re: Game: Guess the (historical) character!
She had enough of a reputation as a warleader that she was able to arrange talks w/ Queen Elizabeth. The negative reputation is due to piracy, cattle theft, and allegations of sexual impropriety. Also, in that time period bing a woman anda warlord would be enough to get you a Reputation pretty fast, jsut for the novelty value. And yes, she is the character in question.

Re: Game: Guess the (historical) character!
And almost every female war-leader before the 20th century had to deal with allegations of sexual impropriety.
Can't post a new character right now (too busy to do a writeup this morning), so if somebody posts one before I can, I don't mind.
