Re: Can I Haz Glass?
Wonder what the upper age limit for those surgeries is now? (Of course, if I'd gotten it the first time I thought about it, the ensuing decades would have changed my eyes anyhow.)
My prescription is actually slightly less extreme than it was on my previous test. The farsightedness of age has made slight inroads against my lifelong nearsightedness! |

I'm not getting laser eye surgery until it lets me shoot laser beams from my eyes.

I'm to the point where I should probably wear an eye patch over my left eye, because it's "lazy" (looking off to the left), but my brain isn't smart enough to ignore it. So constant double vision. Sigh...

Re: Can I Haz Glass?
Lasik can correct some astigmatisms, but you should really consult with your eye doctor for details.
I know 50+ yr olds who are candidates for Lasik, but presbyopia can make the process complicated. Doctors usually correct the dominant eye so it focuses well in the distance and the non-dominant eye focuses better in up close, and lets the brain sort out the conflicting images. It's not always a desirable solution.

Re: Can I Haz Glass?
Mid-70s, it's all about how healthy your corneas are, for my PRK surgery it was 15 seconds of discomfort, a week of wearing protective contacts, and that was it, best decision I could've made, well worth the money and time in my book.

(Reading with amusement all the hate articles about Glass and thinking "You guys probably would have been against eyeglasses too. Or wheelchairs. Because, you know, they cost money and just make you look funny.")

Re: Can I Haz Glass?
That would be nice. I'm with the writer of the article - I want my vision corrected all the time (okay, only when I'm awake), but I won't be wearing Glass nearly as much. Nor do I want to take off my eyeglasses to charge them.
Apparently the distribution of Glass to the Twitter tranche is now starting. |
