If they made a movie of your campaign(s)...
...what rating(s) would you have?
We have generally cartoonish violence, very little nudity and "fade-to-black" sex. Few limbs are hacked off, and seldom if ever does anyone slip in the blood. But our language would still give us a NC-17 (really? the fear of dysphemisms is that strong?) How about your campaigns?

As for violence, I have run campaigns with little or no fighting. But when there is combat its consequences tend to be graphic. To quote one of the players in my French swashbuckling campaign, after his character's encounter with a street thug who got lucky on a wild swing, "Bad Leg and Addicted to laudanum? Sweet!" I would absolutely love a movie of my Dragonlance Spelljammers campaign. (alas it would be hard to get the licenses necessary and Weis and Hickman would run screaming when they heard about it and WoTC would hold out their hands and say "when the weight of dollars in my hands gets big enough you can use our licensed property")
All the sex was off screen but the ideas were often on screen. It had great warriors, greed, sex, beautiful women, beautiful men and even a few innocent child like people to protect, a quest, an dimension spanning threat, demons, politics, and even a happy ending. It would likely rate an R rating for adult content inappropriate for a minor It would almost certainly need to be an Anime or Adult Swim type of movie. The special effects budget would marvel well ... Marvel studios if we did it with live action. The space battle scene where several of the characters were hopping across empty space to get to enemy ships. The near miss in that battle where the hero missed the ship she was aiming for. She was in danger of flying off into space and one of her party shot her in the thigh with a rope arrow rather than allow that to happen. I would love to see that scene on a big IMax 3d screen.

Re: If they made a movie of your campaign(s)...
Since what I've run has either been at conventions or here on PbP, I've always had to keep it family-friendly, or at least PG-13ish. Certainly my imagination runs more explicit than that, and I can think of three occasions where I had to pull the curtain sooner than I wanted to for that reason. It's definitely been a challenge keeping the language clean. I'm reminded of a Supernatural panel where they floated the idea of a film. Jensen Ackles said "Then we could talk like adults."
As a player, though, in WoD games...very adult. Characters who were casual killers, some rather bizarre kinks, graphic torture and dismemberment. It actually makes me wish I could get more adult on PbP because the adult themes are so much more positive.

Probably 16+
Lots of violence, lots of cursing, lots of gore but light on the romance and sex side. |

Most of my games would probably be PG-13. Some violence, occasional cursing (though way more in my current game), not much gore.

Re: If they made a movie of your campaign(s)...
By the current system, NC-17, no question of it.
"On screen," my current campaign has featured harsh language, blatant disregard for laws and authorities, drug use, explicit sex (including a PC appearing in a kinky porno to earn emergency funds), bloody and fairly realistic altercations (described in detail), explicit torture (of PCs and NPCs), executions, and assassinations (one target was even posed as the victim of an autoerotic asphyxiation accident). Most adventures deal with difficult issues, including human trafficking, neo-colonial slave labor, and covert First World interference in developing nations; a few have dealt with mental illness. The campaign criticizes prejudice (racism, sexism, homophobia, and so on) by presenting it as it exists in the real world and showing how awful that is. And it regularly takes unpopular political stances, having attacked big pharma and wealthy corporations in general, criticized American and British military adventurism, cast Palestinian independence in a positive light while showing the dark side of Israeli nationalism, and so on. It's a campaign with protagonists but no heroes. I've resisted podcasting it – despite many requests from people inside and outside of SJ Games – for good reason.

Probably rated "18" in the UK system. Violence is intermittent, but can be quite gory when it happens, owing to a PC's maxing out of Targeted Attack (Greatsword swing/Neck). No explicit sex, but much black humour, developing psychological horror as PC megalomania develops and the possibility of cosmic horror if they actually figure out the physics of the Infinite Worlds setting.

PG-13 to R. Mostly PG-13, if you don't count OOC language. Desolation Road might even have been PG except for the execution and the WMD deployment.

Definitely R for my best games... I always have the villains kicking the proverbial dogs with blood, torture and card carrying villainy.
