Looting the room with Friendship Potion
So in our game today we had a situation where someone went looking for trouble and in response someone played the Friendship Potion card. The card states that you may still loot the room.
Here's the question: If you were already looking for trouble (which you were doing instead of looting the room), can you still loot the room if someone plays the Friendship Potion? We ruled no, since you decided not to loot the room earlier, but wanted to check. |

Re: Looting the room with Friendship Potion
The card says he may loot the room, so he may loot the room. This is one of those cases where the cards break the rules and get to take precedence.

Re: Looting the room with Friendship Potion
The card says he may loot the room. So may I choose not loot the room and just finish my turn?

No. I concede it's ambiguous, but the intent is that the player WILL Loot the Room.

Re: Looting the room with Friendship Potion
Who is "THE PLAYER" that may loot the room? Is it the one whos playing the Friendship Potion or the one who were about to fight the monster?

Re: Looting the room with Friendship Potion
It would be the person whose turn it was (i.e. the person fighting the monster).

Re: Looting the room with Friendship Potion
What kind of munchkin ever considers not taking any loot that is available to them? There are precious few cards that can ever hurt you by drawing them while looting the room (the only one that comes to my mind is Divine Intervention, and that's under a very special case).

My guess is that person was close to winning and the other players didn't want him to have the extra level and/or treasure, that's why they ruled the way they did. He should have been allowed to Loot the Room, since the rules say to follow the card on any contradiction between rulebook and cards, and the card explicitly allows it.
