Default Question about Curse! Clerical Error

Just this night we were playing and someone played Curse: Clerical Error on top of a monster to bring out another monster. The monster enhancer was then played on top of that new monster.

The player versing the monsters then used a wishing ring on the Curse, discarded the curse card, the new monster and the enhancer. I thought this wrong and that he should have played the wishing ring straight after he got the curse.

I'd be interested to know what others think about this, thanks :).

Moderator edit: This question was an add on to a thread not related, at all, to this question, but moved to a new thread. We moderators ask that all new questions that are not follow ups to an answer to the original question in a thread be asked in a new thread. This is because it makes it easier to find a question based on its descriptive topic.

Default Re: Question about Curse! Clerical Error

The Curse is played, the Monster is added, then the Curse is effectively discarded since its effect has been applied. It can't be canceled, essentially, after that. So, once someone does something else, like playing a Monster Enhancer on either Monster, it's really too late to cancel the Curse, since it's gone.

Basically, I would allow someone to cancel the Curse before another card has been played or ability has been used, but not after.

Also keep in mind that you always play a curse on a target player, even if that curse targets something specific. Even though Curse! Clerical Error says it can add a monster to a combat, it only does so when you target the player who is in combat with the curse. You don't play it directly onto the monster.

This is important if they have a way to redirect curses. For example, if the combat player is wearing the Magnificent Hat, then somebody else would be cursed and that player would fight the monster from the curse after the current combat finishes (as you can't have two combats at once).
