I believe I've already mentioned that i'm not a zoologist. Do you have a comment on my actual suggestion?

Basically mimics the model of the Basic Set and subsequent suppliments. We're use to it and its proven. I'd go for it, personally. Now to find some authors . . .

A) It being a good idea, and B) people not reading the thread before posting.

Unfortunately, I think it's unlikely to happen. But I agree it's a good approach.

Frex, "Leopard" might be in the main book, Jumgles has a Jaguar lens, Swamplands have a Panther lens, Plains references Leopard directly, and Mountains has a Puma lens. That way it's the best of both worlds with minimal buyign of extra books based on random release dates.
If a supplement has a Jaguar and no Leopard, the Jaguar needs a stat block instead of just a lens. Looking up two entries in two PDFs and mixing them together isn't convenient in play, even if the base is cheap or free. It's not really convenient in one, but if they are on the same or adjacent pages, I can filp back and forth in a second or so as stats are needed.

Hmm. Yeah that could be an issue with the core book plus biome/genre method.
You either have to flip between two books or you have a lot of repeated material. However if just the stat block is repeated and not the detailed description that would save a lot of space.
You dont really need the detailed description in combat, at least not all of it.

I don't see how those would stop you. You could have Arctic Fox under both A *and* F, even if it shares part of its page with Fish, and you can turn the sheets over and print Frog on the back of one and Arctic Hare on the back of the other.

I figure you need stat blocks and point totals immediately to hand. So long as you have the main templates in the main book, but have the lenses, final point totals, and stat blocks in the biomes books, you should be good.

I like that, such a split by terrain would be a nice and handy way, if we definitely will have several volumes... Moreover I think it's a good balance between detail and quantity, IMHO more than 5-6 parts would be too much.

Anyway, I'm disappointed that having multiple small releases (as pdf) most likely means we won't see nice color artwork, maybe not even good artwork at all, but just some occasional b/w-reprints of a few animal drawings from 3e. Well, it seems we can't have it all... ;)

Actually I really think a Bestiary would be a good selling item if it would be released as a Hard- or Softcover with nice graphics. This can be seen in different other games where bestiaries usually are a popular buy.
