Definition of Items
Stupid question.
I know what Items is. But I can't find anywhere clear definition of the term. Nor in the rules or in the FAQ. Search in forums is not convenient, when you have to prove someone that card with value can be put on the table.

Re: Definition of Items
From the rules:
"Each Item card has a name, a power, a size, and a value in Gold Pieces. An item card in your hand does not count until you play it; at that point, it is “carried.” You may carry any number of small items, but only one Big one." Gives definition of item and tells you that it doesn't count until you "play it". |

Re: Definition of Items
chrismalenurse, you use wrong logic.
"Each Item cards has a value" does not guarantee that everything has a value is an Item. if I say that each game box has a price, it does not mean that everything having price is a game. (It's really hard for me to say it in English, sorry)

Re: Definition of Items
Actually, in Munchkin, his logic is correct. Only Items have a listed value in Munchkin, even if the card might also be something else as well (e.g., a Steed is an Item, as is any Hireling with a value).

Re: Definition of Items
so, i can trade Steed with other players, selling any Hireling with a value for Levels and indicate Ship Enhancers, Steed and Hireling with a value that can't help me by turning the cards sideways?

Re: Definition of Items
Any card with a listed Gold Piece value (including the phrase "No Value") is an Item. Any card without a listed Gold Piece value is not an Item. "Item" means "has a value," and vice versa.

Re: Definition of Items
Good. We all know that. But why it's not in the rules? or in fhe FAQ?
Maybe you could do a glossary? Separate sheet in the rules, or page on website, or post in READ ME FIRST!!! thread? What is Item? What is Monster Enhancer? What is one-shot? etc.

Ship enhancers I would assume would be the same, but I haven't played any game with ships for a while so can't remember too well. On-topic: If you need to prove it to someone, for now you just need to show them Andrews post and it should be perfectly valid proof that items are cards with a value. |

Re: Definition of Items
Maybe it's not clear enough in the Russian rules, but it's absolutely explicit in the English rules. You'll need to talk to the Russian publisher about making it clearer.
