Discuss your favorite 6e miniature styles
I decided to rank the new car designs from favorite to least.
This is a very subjective exercise based on limited visuals. I put this together rather quickly without my usual deliberation. (I can’t wait to play a game with Phil Reed at FnordCon and be “that guy” who overstays his car-building time. ;-)) I reserve the right to change my opinion and re-rank these at any time. Admittedly, this comparison would be greatly enhanced if I had images to go along with the names, but alas. The next best tactic (at this juncture) is to scour the Kickstarter campaign page for the visuals. Best 1. Pure Energy 2. Slipstream 3. Spark 4. Fuzion 5. Avalanche 6. Goblin 7. Scimitar 8. Butcher 9. Sledge Average 10. Shuriken 11. Pillbug 12. Hammer 13. Warhawk 14. Superflash 15. Hades 16. Redline Indifferent 17. Brimstone 18. Scarab 19. Sawtooth 20. Joseph Special 21. Hotshot 22. Aristocrat 23. Dragon 24. Jackrabbit 25. Stiletto 26. Conestoga My favorite vehicles are the sporty, concept styles along with the exotics with military influences. I tend to dislike the more classic styles with baroque adornments. I also dislike vehicles that appear to have a subjective unbalanced symmetry. For example, the Superflash is an attractive car, but the front end protrudes extensively beyond the front wheels. Goblin vs. Scimitar is a very close call. They both tend toward a military SUV style. The Scimitar is much more sporty-exotic channeling Lamborghini. The Goblin reminds me of the actual military Oshkosh L-ATV (Light Combat Tactical All-Terrain Vehicle). I got to see an L-ATV recently at an event at a military base. It has an illusory profile. From a distance it looked almost like a modern, cute, sporty SUV. Up close it was huge with all the dimensions scaled up. In some ways, I’m most impressed with the Spark design. It is so unconventional and exotic. I’ve said that it totally evokes a transformable, flying battlemech. Great diversity of styles. And I know my rankings are subjective and controversial. I already know that some people’s favorites are my least favorite. |

Re: Discuss your favorite 6e miniature styles
I was hoping for muscle cars, but overall the designs are pretty good. Out of what is available, the off-road & supercars are my favorite along with the Conestoga & Hades. Minis pack 2 is not one I'm interested in at all.

I'm thinking about getting a 2nd copy of Miniatures Set 1 and trading out one of the models to get a Pure Energy from set 2. I've got several paint jobs thought up for a couple of models. Conestoga - hearse, classic station wagon, Mad Max station wagon (with hand on a chain), Griswold Station Wagon (with dog collar on chain), Ecto-1 Hades - the red paint job from the prototype, Punisher, Mad Max (his Falcon and the MFP Yellows) Pillbug - School Bus (maybe from Magic School Bus), Herby the Love Bug |

Current top ten in no particular order and some thoughts on them.
1: Pure Energy - Great low profile sport 2: Slipstream - Sleek and simple 3: Dragon - I like the menacing teeth look on the front end. 4: Shuriken - Post Blight 007 5: Pillbug - Makes me think of the Herkimer Battle Jitney from Mystery Men. 6: Fuzion - Great low profile sport 7: Scarab - Sleek and uncomplicated 8: Goblin - Sleek and uncomplicated 9: Scimitar - Good balance of sleek and off-road looks. 10: Brimstone - Has a lot of Fury Road to it. Note, I'm not at all disliking ANY of them. I want all of them. |

Re: Discuss your favorite 6e miniature styles
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, but it sounds like you're talking about ordering a Set 1 and requesting a swap with a model from set 2 and I'm pretty sure that's not a thing.

Sets 2 and 4 are add-on only. Sets 1 and 3 are part of the $140 pledge, aka Double Ace. So, I imagine a lot of backers will have sets 1 and 3 but if they like some of the cars in those sets more than those in 2 and 4, might trade. I'm reserving my final judgement until I see the plastic, but I'm also a fan of the Pure Energy. Though the one I like least, the Spark, is also in set 2. YMMV--your mileage may vary.

Re: Discuss your favorite 6e miniature styles
Only one I'm not sure about is the Hammer . Many of the miniatures do seem very clunky & chunky compared to '80's designs which share the same name ? Guess we don't have worry about aerodynamics too much , so I can deal with that .
I'd like the Ironhorse & Banzi added to the visuals , but no rush ...

Anything that brings to mind the classic Car Wars look is good in my book:
Scarab Warhawk Hotshot Jackrabbit Joseph Special Stiletto Hades There are some other good ones, but those are probably my favorites. WHERE'S MY PIRANHA?!? |
