Re: OGRE Loot! Show Us Yours!
Well, the idea that the Simpsons are still being produced in the late 21st century is amusing...

Back on topic, though slight divergence to designs of other vehicles: what is the second, smaller barrel on the HVY supposed to be? Antipersonnel gun? Laser rangefinder? Smokelayer? |

Re: OGRE Loot! Show Us Yours!
A machine gun-equivalent. I figure most units have them, even if they're not modeled in game terms.

Re: OGRE Loot! Show Us Yours!
Jeez, this is becoming Bosch's Bragging Thread. My apologies!
...but not gonna stop showing off my loot. Today, I've got the penultimate photo of my Secret Project: a Nihon Samurai! I've gotten all the pieces together and given it a light spray coat of gray to see where I need to do more work (answer: everywhere). It's mostly a standard SJ Games plastic Mk V. All of the extra bits came from my usual source of bits: a big bag of MechWarrior Dark Age models. It's not perfect by any means, but I quite like how it came out regardless. https://flic.kr/p/FcT4nu I'll finish the Martian Metals Mk V restoration tomorrow or Thursday, then start work on either a Nihon Oni or an Ogre Coelacanth. |

Re: OGRE Loot! Show Us Yours!
Okay, finally, comparison photos. These came out darker than I would like, which is what I get for having Ogres painted black.
The one on the left in each shot is an original Martian Metals sculpt. The one on the right is the Mobasher version, machined rather than sculpted. |

Thanks, SJ! And wow, Ab's sculpt really has endured the test of time. If you told me that was one of the latest plastics, I'd have no reason to doubt you.

Yes. The "ancient" work from Hoffa and Mobasher is as good as anything we are getting now. Real skill there.

Re: OGRE Loot! Show Us Yours!
I just ran a Google search on Ab, and I didn't know he was also responsible for FASA's line of Star Trek ships. Those are some of the finest miniatures ever produced, with astonishing detail. His Klingon Bird of Prey has never even been equaled, let alone surpassed, even by much larger-scale models and toys.
