Default Yield of the tactical nukes in Orge

Is there an official rule on the yield of the tactical nukes used in Ogre in kilotons? I'm guessing it's not in megatons that would be a strategic nuke, right. Thanks.

There is a table in GURPS Ogre. They are actually pretty low yield - starting from a few score or hundreds of tons if i remember. The trick is that they are essentially nuclear shaped charges to punch through BPC armor, not open air blasts - at least not until you get to cruise missiles.

Found it. For discussion of the nuclear weapons see pp. 106-108 in GURPS Ogre.

In my headcanon every shell is in the 5-15 kilotons range. But the only "official" source is GURPS Ogre, which nerfs them down to "reasonableness".

Pfft reasonableness.

Outstanding thanks I'll have to look into GRUPS.

You may find this site of some interest to map yield & damage: https://nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/

In Section 2 you can select low-yield tactical weapons, such as the B-61 Mod3s.

From https://nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/ , a 5 kt bomb makes a crater 30m wide and 20m deep.... That D5 SHVY got that X for falling into a deep hole.

A 0.02 kt bomb (10 tons) still makes a crater 10 m wide, but I suspect they are rounding to the nearest 10. Maybe the near-miss for that is a SHVY's D result.

Cool thanks I do have this link, already. The reason I was asking was I wanted to play the "third" where I would try to get refugees out of the city. Since the truck covers four hexes on the road per turn, about 63 mph which happens to be what the 5 ton truck actually does. I wanted to know how many hexes away from the fighting would be still too radioactive for unprotected refugees to handle. Also how many hexes away from a cruse missile would be safe. Right now I', thinking at least one hex away from the fighting and two hexes away from cruse missile attack. But I'll have to run the numbers. Thanks, Best Regards.

I always envisioned them as sort of being in the yield range of the M29 Davy Crockett - powerful enough to punch through armor, but not damaging enough to destroy whatever area you are trying to defend.

Oh yea the Davie Crockett was INSANE. I think if it is possible they would have developed hafnium triggered weapons so it would be larger than any chemical ordinance but smaller than any nuke and it wouldn't have all of that nasty fallout.
