The report makes the point that full machine autonomy on the battlefield is not necessarily a bad thing.

I would take anything claimed by Russian arms manufacturers with a grain of salt right now. That said, even if Kalashnikov is blowing smoke, this will happen sooner or later - and my money is on "sooner."

Remove the Russian from that and I'd agree.

Fair 'nuff. I'm re-reading David Pulver's "Tomorrow's Tanks Today" from The Ogre Book, and it's kind of interesting seeing all of the equipment we were supposed to see "in a few years" that still hasn't been fielded.

I suspect that some fraction of the reason is illustrated here.

Part of it is also September 11 2001, a LOT of spending priorities changed that day.

I would love to see a current update of that article.

I'm a bit out of the loop on where to get that kind of information, but it isn't super easy.

I haven't found a current book on the subject.

I'm pretty interested in the state of Active Protection Systems. I've heard of the Israeli's Trophy and Iron Fist systems. I'm pretty curious for more details on the APS systems deployed on the new Russian Armata tanks.
