[LT, P 3/33] Deadly spring repeating crossbows
What’s up!
Recently I have been trying to make “bigger” crossbows for fantasy characters in a “semi-realistic” (or a half cinematic) TL3 setting. One of the best suggestions I received was checking the “deadly spring”, which I found very useful to make stronger Low-Tech arms, its spreadsheets are a great add-on. So, I am looking for a replicable way to turn crossbows from the deadly spring into repeating crossbows. I made some research on repeating crossbows, but most of my results refer to the Chinese Repeating Crossbow (and its flaws). For example, some sources ascertain that repeating crossbows have low accuracy because its bolts lack fletching… but well, that’s the Chu Ko Nu's design. Perhaps Chu Ko Nu were like that because of production demand and not because of engineering limitations. My hypothesis is that a repeating crossbow must meet certain requirements to work as such, and maybe we could reflect it applying formulas/criterions in the "deadly spring" spreadsheets. I will appreciate your knowledge in this matter! Here are the stats of the crossbow I am working with: Crossbow 3d+2 (1) imp Acc 4 (fine) Range 370/370 Weight 4.4/0.46 Cost $332/$3 ST 14 (279) Bulk -7 Material: Eucalyptus/Hickory limbs; Cedar & Willow, Black riser Length 27 (100%) Shape Compound Draw 23.00 Thickness 0.38 (4.8) Energy 505 J Arrow/Head: 23 in Sinew (0.7/0) War Arrow, Light, Barbed Thanks!
