[Least Magic] Petty Magic
PETTY MAGIC
15 points The Petty Magic advantage allows you to cast any Least Spell at will, although it adds one second to casting time, which cannot be reduced by high skill. You cast the spells at IQ + Magery (or Hedge Magic Talent, if the GM allows that). Everything else functions normally. Statistics: Cosmic Modular Ability (1) (Petty Magic Only, -50%; Can maintain spells normally even if you rearrange slots, +100%) [15]. Edit: In campaigns where this advantage exists, they GM should let the players "work up" to this advantage by buying Least Spells individually. This advantage is only remotely balanced because Least Spells are so few and trivial - do not allow this build for normal spells!

Re: [Least Magic] Petty Magic
Interesting. One point in an Average skill would give you IQ-1+Magery/Talent, by the way.
I would probably limit it to Least Spells that they actually know to exist - maybe even studied for an hour or something. Otherwise you're either saying that society has already learned every Least Spell that can ever exist, or opening yourself up to constant negotiation of which Least Spells could exist (and most likely a much smaller limitation for "Least Spells Only", if the whole thing could be considered remotely balanced at all). The big thing to swallow here is that effectively Cosmic enhancement, of course. You don't need it to have a useful ability; there are plenty of situations where being able to use any (ugh let's just call it a...) cantrip one at a time would still be great, especially at 5 or even 10 points. If you've got people with IQ+Magery high enough to reduce energy cost to zero, I don't think +100% would be good enough. If you make it a rule that energy (to cast and maintain) can't be reduced to zero, then stackability is much less of an issue and this should be fine. |

Good points all. Meditate upon this I shall.

Pretty sure powers allows you to take the same limitation on Modular Abilities or Shapeshifting (for rearranging your points) as you do on the abilities resulting from the rearrange. How did you come up with the 'can maintain spells normally' enhancement? If this were sorcery, you'd probably just be better off removing the 'costs fatigue' element that spell maintenance is based on, than to come up with some wacky enhancement of avoiding the need to pay FP to stop the duration ending. |

Re: [Least Magic] Petty Magic
It's a Cosmic enhancement. TBT, this feels like it should cost 15 points, so I went with +100% because it gave the right amount. :) It's about the same as Serendipity or Cosmic Ability (Perks Only, Physical).
