Go Up a Level played in combat?
I played Munchkin Booty at a friends house the other day (awesome game btw) and we ran into a situation that i wasn't sure about. One of the players was level 8 and when he opened the door it was a level one monster with no bonuses, he instantly played a "Go Up A Level" card and then beat the monster to win. I said that I didn't think he could, but the rules didn't specifically say you couldn't use that card in battle, so the owner ruled that he could do that to win. Can you use "Go Up A Level" cards in battle? If so, I'm completely changing my munchkin strategy :P

Re: Go Up a Level played in combat?
From this forum post, you can play a GUAL "at any time, on any player, even during combat."
But in the case you give above, your friend needed to play the GUAL -before- he defeated the monster. If he'd waited until after he defeated the monster, then he would have been at level 9 and been unable to use the GUAL to go to level 10.

You can even play "Fugu" (Munchkin Fu 2: Monkey Business) on other player?
Fugu + Reloaded die = DIE See ya

Re: Go Up a Level played in combat?
GUAL cards can be used to the detriment of the players as well. A great example is someone at level 4 drawing a monster that won't attack anyone of level 4 or below. Another player could play a GUAL card on that person, making them a level 5 and thus the target of the monster's attack. :)

Then you didn't read the rules.
