Default Disadvantage: Being a Puppet?

What is it worth to actually be a Puppet of one or more beings with Possession? That seems like it'd be disadvantageous if someone could just hijack your body and life at any moment they chose to do so.

If I'm reading it right, then you would be pretty much unplayable as a character. You would be an NPC under their control.

The problem is, gaming-wise, there's no use for it. A player doesn't want to have the GM be able to take over his character at any moment. That's worse than a scheduled loss of control like that of a werewolf. If the GM does it at moments when nothing is going on, then it could be ruled to be an Evil Twin disadvantage. Your enemy is you.

What if you were a puppet to an ally only?
Like an internal computer A.I.?
Or vampire friend?

Then build your character as the control, and the puppet as the ally.

I don't consider someone who takes over your body to serve their own ends an "ally".

They have the capacity to control, not malicious intent.
How do I make a lazy P.C. that wants his A.I. to exercise and do other boring things for him while he either takes a nap or plays V.R. in his head?

Depending on the exact circumstances, you have one of:
  • IQ 0
  • Reprogrammable
  • Duty (Involuntary) to the being that has you as a Puppet

(This is explicit in the description of Puppet, as the Puppet must have one of those traits.)

You might also be able to claim the possessor as an Ally or Patron.

So if a villain with Possession with the Chronic enhancement successfully possesses a PC and then buys the PC as a Puppet, does that mean the PC should add that Duty disadvantage (the other ones not seeming relevant in this case) to their character sheets - obviously not gaining any points for it of course?

You'd be unplayable as a character whilst possessed, yes. On the other hand, even that need not be true. But the "puppet-master" might have limitations on their possession ability that makes it either impossible or undesirable to maintain control for extended periods, and things like exorcism could come into play.

Furthermore, for such a character, I would see it as appropriately fun to use a modified form of extended mental combat rules in Supers in Duel of the Mind, making it more involved than just a contest of Wills for the PC to regain (or retain) control.
