Lagomorphs have huge heads for their size. Facing one that rears up comfortably looking down at me and my puny horse with gleaming eyes and huge teeth... I would drop pellets! To heck with the exact statistics.

Let me put it another way. Compared to rabbits, a running horse is very smooth. Take all the jarring motion of a galloping horse and scale it up a notch or two.
