GURPS Lite - Orphaned rules?
Hi! I'm reading through GURPS Lite, and there seem to be places where the rules refer directly to things that weren't included in Lite.
"Change Postures" Maneuver has a paragraph detailing what posture changes you can and can't do as part of a maneuver that allows a "step", but the none of the maneuvers way anything about whether they allow a "step". If you cut all the rest of the information about the "step" in combat, why include that? There are also a lot of weapons skills without any stats listed for them in the weapons table. So we have a paragraph telling us all about flails, and how they are -2 to block and -4 to parry, but we don't have a single line in the weapons table for any type of flail. Why include it in one place and not the other? |

Re: GURPS Lite - Orphaned rules?
Most Maneuvers allow at least a Step, except for Do Nothing, Change Posture, and Wait (until the Wait condition gets triggered). In the full rules, each Maneuver has a couple of notes at the end specifying the movement and active defenses allowed. Evidently that was cut while trying to cut down a few hundred pages of rules to 32. (And that for free... so there's no return on a big investment of editorial time there.)
No doubt the same with flails. The weapons tables got chopped down from the Basic Set. There's only two in Basic anyway (morningstar and nunchaku). If you want stats, use damage of cr sw+(weight / 2) and 0U Parry. |
