I would just like to commend you on the bestiary in your sig; are the other volumes of your project available anywhere?

Thanks! I stopped working on them back in '09 but I have recently (in the last month) re-started the project. In addition, I'm eventually going to build a whole new Natural Encyclopedia without the old 3E entries, though I'll keep the current version around for posterity. (I became dissatisfied with the old 3E bestiaries because they tended toward the silly, the humorous, the amusing or the on-the-nose metaphorical. I converted nearly everything there was but ended up not wanting to use any of them myself.)

I agree, there were a lot of silly entries, mostly pulled from myth. One thing I would suggest is either including a robust ToC/Index or including page references in the by habitat table.

Where to draw the line is always difficult. A case can also be made for part of 13 (load-out for the bases professions). And a bestiary. And an adventure...

...back to reality now...

I think I'd want the racial templates from DF3 as well.

If there was a kickstarter for that, I'd be in on it in a heartbeat.

I'd say that if anything, the racial templates are more useful than the character templates and class-mixing lenses. You don't need the focused example templates in DF1 if you have the allowed advantages/disadvantages/skills list from the next section and the powers sets and spell rulings/modifications from the one after that.

What should be in it:
  • GURPS Lite, less things like firearms.
  • GURPS Magic, at least the spells that are in GURPS Basic Set: Characters, with some editing of lists for what spellcasting templates are included.
  • Some of the templates in DF1, namely Cleric, Knight, Thief, and Wizard. Maybe one or two of the others, like Barbarian or Scout. The templates have fewer options, and the spellcasters pick spell lists.
  • The rest of DF1, less things for templates not included.
  • DF2, and the races from DF3.
  • Some of the magic items from GURPS Magic and DF8.
  • Loadouts for the included templates from DF13.
  • A bit of DF16, namely stuff that enhances DF2.
  • Some of the monsters from DFM1-3 and DFA1, plus a few other common ones.

There has to be good reasons to get the full versions, but this has to get folks up and playing fast. There would be an adventure in it. It could be Mirror of the Fire Demon or another one. The focus should be on going to the dungeon, getting into it, finding monsters in it, killing them, taking their stuff, avoiding the traps, getting back, and selling the loot—the basic stuff of Dungeon Fantasy, with a bit more of the wilderness. It needs to show off GURPS, including its versatility, AND get everyone playing fast.
