Re: Fencing Game Preferences
Note that the Musketeer regiment was a junior regiment and as such younger sons went there while the older sons went to more fancy regiments. Granted all the regiments in question were part of the royal household, but the musketeers had less chance of being in the vicinity of the king than the members of the other regiments.

Re: Fencing Game Preferences
I want EN GARDE done better with modern gaming techniques.
If I were running it, I'd probably include some fantastical elements but that's not what the putative GM is offering.

One of my campaigns, years ago, had Errol Flynn as a PC. It was set on the Pearl Bright Ocean described in GURPS Cabal, and I invited the players to consider legendary creatures as optionsso one of them wrote up Errol Flynn, after he had (a) ascended to godhood, (b) gotten bored, and (c) descended from the archetypal plane to have adventures again as the campaign of a privateer ship. I particularly liked the scene where he flirted with the rakshasa marine officer by engaging in swordplay with her, using his Sword! for Sex Appeal. . . .

Alternative, set it in modern times with everybody being SCAdians, Western Martial Artists, or various Olympic fencing club members. Say, those might be good Roles for an In Nomine games... |

Re: Fencing Game Preferences
It seems to me that Corwin was born on the archetypal plane, to effective godhead, rather than earning apotheosis by his deeds in mortal life.

Re: Fencing Game Preferences
Perhaps... unless walking the Pattern counts. On the other hand, most mythologies have no problem with gods having divine descendants, so it's really Dworkin that had to earn it.
