Default Wandering Monster and Gazebo

After playing Munchkin Quest multiple times (with the new expansion), I'm very pleased altogether, but I have questions I'm hoping to get clarification on:

Q8: If I Wandering Monster a Gazebo into a combat between 2 players and monster(s), do I or the players get to pick which player must then fight the Gazebo alone? Assuming perhaps that the main player is the one who must face the Gazebo, does he have to fight all of the monsters in the room, or solely the Gazebo?

No one gets to pick; the main player always retains his combat. The helper must withdraw. The main player fights all monsters, including the Gazebo, simultaneously.

Ouch. That's... beautifully munchkin-y. Turns the Gazebo into a very interesting monster.

Is this basically the only instance where someone who has committed to helping is not responsible for rolling a runaway attempt before withdrawing?

In Quest? Yeah, pretty much.
