Default Dodging the Zap attack?

Can you dodge a wizard staff 'zap' attack?

It seems to me like you should have some kind of defence, since they can 'miss' and it makes sense that you could do something to make them missing more likely if you devote your action to doing that. It's just that the attack isn't specifically characterised as a standard thrown or missile attack, just an 'occult' attack, so lots of the rules don't directly apply.

I'm currently interpreting it as a kinda thrown spell / short range lightning bolt, but without the range minuses for DX. Does that sound ok?

Dodging should make the target harder to hit with a ranged attack, even an 'occult' attack. (This would somewhat help with the balance of the new Staff abilities)

Sounds about right to me, too.

Sounds legit. 4d roll vs. DX (or DX+3, depending on the level of your staff) if the target dodges.
