Default Lockpicking Spell

Has a Spell for Lockpicking been addressed in this forum?
Could be a learned spell, scroll or grimoire entry.

How about a Magical Master Key?

The spell is Lock/Knock. Knock opens locks.

Best use of the Knock spell is to trigger traps from a hundred yards away.

GM: The trap on this door is that it opens another door and the lake above you starts pouring in. Pity that you're a hundred yards down from the top of the ramp.

Lock/Knock is a Thrown spell, so your adjDX drops quickly per hex. Maybe try it from 3 hexes away.

You want to fail here in order to trigger the trap.

Another dandy exploit of the lack of range limits on thrown spells is to attempt Control Person twenty times a day from five miles away.

In a campaign world where the GM has not already fixed that exploit, the mechanicians may have learned about this (ab)use of the Knock spell centuries ago, and so train trap designers to at most put an alarm trap on a door lock, and have the trigger mechanism for other kinds of trap effects be on something else.
