Default Innate Attack Wall Thickness?

Innate Attack Wall Thickness: (floating and mass discussions too)

Is there a way to make a Wall (Innate Attack) thickness thinner than 1 meter? Or is that the minimum?

You get 1x3 yards per yard of AoE correct? How can you break this down when you shape it? Is this a bunch of 1 yard cubes? Can I make these cubes thinner?

Here is my wall:
Force Wall (Innate Attack: Crush) 12d6
No Wounding, -50%; no die roll 2 points/level, +0%;
Wall, +60%; Persistent , +40%; Area of Affect, 8
yards, +150%; Extended Duration 30x (5 Minutes),
+60%; No Blunt Trauma, -20%; Cancellation, +10%.

Here is another thread that has a Defensive Barrier:
ref: http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=88426&page=2

Defensive Barrier: 13d6 (Wall (rigid), +30%; Persistent, +40%; Extended Duration 30x, +60%; Area Effect, 2 yards +50%; No Blunt Trauma -20%; No Knockback -10%; -No Wounding -50%; Sense based (Vision) -20%; Magical, -10%; 1 hr Recharge, -30%; Costs Fatigue: 5, -50%; Requires IQ Roll, -10%; Spell Components, -20%) [39]

If, when you build the wall power, you want to set it at a lower thickness than the default, I think you can just do that. If it doesn't reduce the wall's HP or DR, that's basically just a feature. You're slightly more limited, in that someone with Penetrating Vision might be able to see through it more easily, or a character with Permeation could possibly slip through it faster, but those are such edge cases that I wouldn't make it a limitation. Reducing the HP or DR are probably worth a bit of a limitation, though.

If you can shape the wall on the fly, changing its thickness every time you use it, that's the Selective Area enhancement.

Thanks!

So, this means after I create the wall (an attack) I can change its shape later as an attack action or free action?

Since they each last 5 minutes, can I create multiple walls?

Actually, with Selective Area, I'd let you set the wall's thickness when you used it, but not after that. Varying the thickness of a wall you'd already placed would be another enhancement, which I'd call a further +30% enhancement. That would let you vary the wall's thickness, and any other parameters that you could set when you first used it, and it should probably require a Concentrate maneuver.

Yup, nothing prevents you from doing this. Some powers (like psionics, for example) do have rules about multiple abilities being on at once, though, usually -1 per ability after the first. Ask your GM if those rules are in effect!

Thanks! Appreciate the replies, I've been really confused by trying to build this power. I've read 4 threads here on it so that was helpful.

Does the wall have weight or mass? Can it be moved? Does it float like a balloon? lol :)

A wall at +60 has "...you can form it into any
shape you choose." does this not include thickness?

Wall:
+30%
You may only add this enhancement
to an attack that has both Area
Effect (p. 102) and Persistent (p. 107).

For +60%, your wall works as
above, but you can form it into any
shape you choose.

Depending on what it's made of, it'll have weight and mass, yes. After the duration expires, it will disappear, though. You can declare the wall is made of gold if you want, but it won't mean you don't have to buy Wealth. :-)

Actually, yeah, after thinking about it, I think it does. I was thinking in terms of the overall shape of the wall, but I think it's reasonable to let that change the thickness of the wall as well. Note, however, that this still doesn't let you change the wall's shape again once you've placed it. For that, use the enhancement I suggested above.

If it's a wall of energy for a supers force field user, does it have no mass?

What if I cast it while flying? Does it fall?

You can always set the "special effects" of an ability when you build it, which I'd say includes the wall's mass. A force field probably has no mass, though if your explanation for it includes something like "dark matter" or "gravity manipulation", it might have some effective mass.

I would say, by default, a wall will be immobile. You should have to cast it on a solid surface. If you add the Drifting enhancement, though, I'd allow you to cast it mid-air and let it fall. If it landed on someone, it would do damage as though they collided with it.

Cool.

Adding Drifting enhancement on a no mass wall casted in mid air... it would not fall right? Can it be moved by anyone or anything (like wind)?

Trying to figure out floating force walls like Green Lantern :)

Edit found Drifting
+20%
You may add this enhancement to
any attack with Delay (above) or
Persistent (p. 107). The initial attack
roll places the effect. It then drifts from
that point with the wind, water cur-
rents, solar wind, etc., as appropriate.
Use this for poison gas, ball lightning,
floating mines, and so forth.
