Just tidying up, boon
My friends and I were just playing a mix of the space and pirate munchkin. I was level 9 and about to beat a monster when my friend used his iPhone Munchkin app and played his boon. It read this:
"Just Tidying Up!" "You may discard any one card that someone has in play, no matter whom it belongs to. Usable once only." He tried to take the monster away. See anther player had played the Mirage card that lets him switch the monster with anyone in their hand. The group decided that since a player played the monster it was considered "in play." What do you think? Thank you so much. I just want this thing behind us. |

Re: Just tidying up, boon
The specific wording of the boon is any card that a player has "in play".
This is a specific Munchkin term and refers to any cards a player has played in front of them. (Such as race, potions, racial modifiers, steeds ect. ect.) I don't believe this boon was intended to be directly played on cards in combat so it could not have been used to remove the monster.

I agree with static but it just reinforces why I have the house rule no iphone apps. I'm not silly enough to waste money on one when I can get cheaper smart phones. I don't see why ppl should be rewarded for buying more expensive garbage. After all I have itunes on my non iphone!

Whereas I'd be pretty miffed if I had bought an app and then found out during the game that I wasn't going to be allowed to use it. You may not like that people can buy an app and get a bonus (once per game), but to us it's no different from any of the OTHER special items you can buy that give in-game bonuses -- in fact, because there's theoretically no limit on the number of purchasers of the iOS and Android apps, it's LESS limiting than the physical Munchkin accessories!

I already had an Ipod so it didn't bother me to buy the app. I spend more on crane games than I did on the app.

Re: Just tidying up, boon
Though the Monster is not a card I would consider any particular player having "in play," I would still consider a one-shot Item that someone played to a combat, at the very least, in play. I'm still trying to decide how I feel about Monster Enhancers. . .
