Default I'm in a bit of a character-creation mood...

Thummim
Malakim of Destiny, temporarily in service to Dreams

Corporeal Forces - 3 Strength 7 Agility 5
Ethereal Forces - 2 Intelligence 3 Precision 5
Celestial Forces - 4 Will 4 Perception 12

Vessel: Human male/3
Role: "Thom MacIann," bodyguard/2, status 2
Skills: Detect Lies/1, Dodge/3, Fighting/2, Large Weapon/2 (sword), Ranged Weapon/1 (pistol)
Songs: Entropy (Corporeal/3), Thunder/3
Attunements: Malakim of Destiny, Divine Destiny
Oaths: Never suffer an evil to live if it's his choice; Never surrender or allow himself to be captured by Hell's armies; Never allow a lie to go unchallenged if it's his choice; Never lie, or mislead with partial truths.

Don't try to put one past Thummim. He'll know it, and will call you on it. Possibly with steel.

Thummim almost fledged as a Seraph, but that was before he followed Yves' advice and spoke with a group of blessed souls who had died together because someone had repeatedly lied to the man who had killed them. The fact that someone could do such a thing based solely on false information disquieted him. Thummim sought out and spoke with similiar groups of blessed souls - volunteer test subjects who were assisting a pharmaceutical company researcher who had been duped by her unscrupulous supervisor, vacationers who were too close to a suicide bomber at the wrong time, members of a college sports team whose bus driver believed the mechanic who said he'd repaired the brakes, and others. The more of these souls he spoke with, the more his righteous anger grew, until Thummim finally fledged as a Malakim. Yves himself offered advice on how Thummim should phrase his oaths - this has not gone unnoticed, and more than a few angels assume Thummim has a very bright Destiny because of the Archangel of Destiny's personal interest in him. Yves' other servitors have taught Thummim what they can, and (much to Thummim's surprise) managed to temper that righteous anger without blunting it or impairing his near-Seraphic tendency to detect truth.

He has finally earned the chance to continue his education about humanity while serving Heaven and Destiny on Earth. Blandine has decided to attempt once again to loosen Nybbas' strangehold on the media by setting up an independent video production studio; when Yves heard of this plan, he asked Thummim whether he would like to help counter the Media's lies. Thummim leapt at the chance to become "Thom MacIann," the executive assistant and bodyguard to the studio's Mercurian chief executive officer. As the CEO's bodyguard, Thummim keeps his angelic colleagues safe; as the CEO's executive assistant, Mr. McIann has already saved the company from early bankruptcy by exposing the lies of one of their suppliers of film stock. This has earned him the notice of the studio's management and the ire of the (ex-)supplier's Nybbasian backers.

Thummim is a a balanced (if one-dimensional) starting character. Note that his unmodified Detect Lies roll is against 13...

Chephirah
Cherub of Animals

Corporeal Forces - 5 Strength 9 Agility 11
Ethereal Forces - 2 Intelligence 4 Precision 4
Celestial Forces - 2 Will 3 Perception 5

Vessel: Housecat/3
Skills: Acrobatics/1, Climbing/1, Dodge/1, Escape/1, Move Silently/1, Running/1, Survival/6 (urban), Tracking/6
Songs: Claws/6, Tongues (Corporeal/3)
Attunements: Cherub of Animals

Chephirah ("little lioness") is one of Jordi's spies. It's her job to keep a discreet eye on the humans of a large city, ensuring they don't mistreat the animals that are forced to live with them, and doing something about the situation if they are. Luckily for her, almost none of the humans notice a little gray stray cat, and the demons who notice her get a taste of her rather nasty Claws. (Her other Song is reserved for communicating with other angels.)

Alas, one of the humans in her new base of operations has noticed her. Worse, this human acts as in a completely disgusting manner; she (Chephirah is almost certain it's a female) treats the local stray cats as if they're her pets. Chephirah was ready for almost anything, but never expected to be subjected to the indignity of being petted! But that's what Chephirah's teeth are for; she can't kill a human with those... at least, she thinks that's not possible, but if it happens, it happens.

Chephirah is a balanced starting character.

(Yes, anime fans, I have been re-watching Azumanga Daioh; why do you ask? <g>)

Kamineko? That evil little fanged furball? An angel? Not a chance! Maybe it thinks it's an angel, if you get my drift... all the torture and temptation he puts Sakaki through. Several times he initiates the conversation, inviting her attentions, and then CHOMPs. And that last scene...

...well. Mayaa put a stop to him, that's for sure. ^_^ The sheer joy that cat brings Sakaki: pure Heaven right there. (Not necessarily meaning Mayaa's an angel. But the joy -- that's the real thing. :^)

Just because I took the inspiration for the character from that story doesn't mean that Chephirah is supposed to be Kamineko. (Besides, who would Kamineko be a Habbalite of? There's no canonical Prince of Beasts, as far as I'm aware...)

And Mayaa obviously has more forces than Kamineko (or Chephirah). <g>

Oh, yes... (1) Feel free to use my characters in this thread in your own games, and (2) I don't mind if other people post characters here as well. (I collect valid starting characters, just in case somebody needs one...)

Since everyone creates a Bright eventually...

Bethany
Bright Lilim of Lightning

Corporeal Forces - 2 Strength 3 Agility 5
Ethereal Forces - 4 Intelligence 9 Precision 7
Celestial Forces - 3 Will 7 Perception 5

Vessel: Human female/2, Charisma +1, Sex Appeal +1
Role: "Bethany Hopper," Computer Technician/3, Status 2
Skills: Computer Operation/3, Driving/1, Electronics/1, Engineering/2, Singing/1
Songs: Charm (all/2)
Attunements: Bright Lilim of Lightning, Uncommon Sense

Previously a Lilim of Technology, Bethany became disquieted, then upset, then outraged, when she discovered the soul-crushing uses her devices were being put to. She didn't design those gadgets so they would be used - as a Technologist, she built things simply because she could. So she ran to Earth. That's where and when Bethany discovered the heights and depths of technological creativity that humanity could reach. She fell in love with the humans almost immediately, and one of them (a Soldier of Zadkiel) helped her hide from The Game "because it's the right thing to do."

A few years later, Bethany finally Redeemed. Jean recognized her abilities, brought her to Heaven, and assigned her to a workstation in the Halls of Progress, allowing her to work with the human assistants there. She still hasn't admitted to realizing that she was on the same level as the humans for a half-century.

But that was then, and this is now. Bethany's earned Jean's trust, a new Attunement (never mind that Jean's still working the last of the bugs out of his reverse-engineered version of that Creationer Attunement; she volunteered to field-test it) and a chance at Earth duty, in that order. She's been assigned to work at a small computer repair shop "owned" and operated by a Cherub of Lightning who has attuned to her without her knowledge. She's very good at repairing hardware and removing computer viruses, and has come to care about how and why all this equipment is used. Bethany's also discovered the concept of "hobbies," and has begun singing in a barbershop quartet in order to place her Role more firmly in the Symphony. Much to her initial surprise, she enjoys the diversion.

She's a freckle-faced strawberry-blonde, with a "body by Nybbas" - cute until she takes her glasses off and lets her hair down, then sexy as all get out. Bethany rarely takes her glasses off, though; she doesn't like being sexy. Her Role's family name is the same as that of one of the blessed souls who worked with her for the last few years before she began Earth duty (a woman who reached her Destiny by reaching the top of a male-dominated field by scientific know-how alone, setting an example for people of both genders).

Bethany is a balanced starting character.

Here is a angel I made for the PbP Mile High Club that didn't work out, so instead of it collecting virtual dust, I'll share him.

Secacah, Seraph of Destiny
Corporeal: 2
Strength: 4
Agility: 4

Ethereal: 4
Intelligence: 6
Precision: 10

Celestial: 3
Will: 6
Perception: 6
Resonance: When Seraphim are paying even the slightest attention, no one--human or celestial--can lie to them without it ringing false.
Dissonance: lying

Vessel: mid 20s white male, black hair, blue eyes (level 2, BH: 16)
Role: Kade Smith, cocktail waiter, The Opus Lounge (high end martini bar) [Level 1, Status 1]

Skills:
Savoir-faire (Pre, Int)/1. Move Silently (Ag)/1

Attunements:
A Seraph of Yves is linked to Yves' Book of Names. he knows the true name of everyone he contacts physically, and of every item that he sees clearly or handles, provided it _has_ a name in an Earthly language that he knows. Knowing truth, he penetrates illusions with a touch.

Songs:
Dreams (Corp/6, Eth/1, Cel/1)
Darkness (Corp/1, Eth/1)
Might (Eth/3)
Nightmares (Corp/1, Eth/1, Cel/1)
Projection (Eth/1)
Seals (Eth/4)
Shadows (Corp/1, Eth/3, Cel/1)

History:
Secacah (shadow; covering; defense) is a redeemed Seraph of Destiny. He started out life as Kochbiel, a Balseraph of Nightmares, Knight of Restlessness, Demon of Shadows. His focus was furthering the fear of the dark, of what was waiting for you in the shadows. He's been around for a long time, starting out back when humans were sitting in caves, using their fire to keep the shadows at bay. At one time he was one of Beleth's favorites.

In the last century he became the target of two plots. Enon, a shedite of Theft, had it's eye on the Word of Shadows for a while, thinking that the power of the Word rightly belonged to Theft, and of course, it. About that time, unbeknownst to both of them, Ahihud, an Impudite Knight of Hidden Doors, had decided that the Word of Shadows should be used in the correct way, to keep that which should be hidden away from prying eyes. Enon spent the better part of the 20th century chipping away at Kochbiel's power base. Ahihud secretly helped Enon, with the plan to remove the corrupter after the Knight of Nightmares was taken out of the picture. The Balseraph kept himself in denial and didn't take the necessary steps to secure his Word. The power struggle ended with a three way battle in the Marches (though the Shedite and Balseraph didn't even know the Taker was involved) that turned Celestial. Kochbiel lost forces and fled to Blandine's side of the Marches, since by then Beleth had become displeased with Kochbiel's service. The dying Lier "stumbled" upon Yves, who was able to scare off the other demons. The work of the two demons had caused Kochbiel to rethink his role and job in the Sympathy and after the battle was more than ready to Redeem. A few more forces and his Word connection were lost in the redemption, but he is quite happy to start over.

Now Secacah is the local contact for Destiny angels who think that their charges might be at risk for demonic (or angelic) interference while they are in the Marches. They call him up and he heads off to the Marches to guard the sleeper though the night. He is still quite good in the Marches but Yves has decided he should spend most of his time on Earth to better understand those he has sworn to help.

Sarah
Impudite of Lust

Corporeal Forces - 2 Strength 3 Agility 5
Ethereal Forces - 3 Intelligence 4 Precision 8
Celestial Forces - 4 Will 9 Perception 7

Vessel: 20-something Human Female/3, Sex Appeal +3
Role: "Sarah Noelle," Stewardess/3, Status 2
Skills: Acrobatics/1, Driving/1, Emote/1, Fast-Talk/1, Seduction/2
Songs: Attraction (Ethereal/3), Form (Celestial/2), Healing (Corporeal/2), Shields (Corporeal/3, Ethereal/3), Ornamental Numinous Corpus: Tongue/1
Attunements: Impudite of Lust

Sarah's a girl who enjoys her work. She's a flight attendant assigned to the economy section of the New York / Las Vegas run, where she gets to meet so many men (and a few women) who'd love to win her at the tables... and every so often she lets one of them take her to a hotel room for the night. Okay, she lets somebody take her to a hotel room every night. She really enjoys that part of her work. And that's the important part of her work, helping humans grasp their desires - her Superior told her so himself.

Sarah is a balanced starting character.

She's also a character for a character - I'm writing stories in a shared-world, and one of the characters I've created for it is an In Nomine player. This is what was on that story-character's game-character sheet when the game began...

Yes, it's another balanced starting character... or a good non-lethal ally or antagonist for almost any group of characters.

Chilmad
Elohim of Revelation

Corporeal Forces - 2 Strength 3 Agility 5
Ethereal Forces - 4 Intelligence 9 Precision 7
Celestial Forces - 3 Will 4 Perception 8

Vessel: Human male/4
Skills: Computer Operation/1, Detect Lies/2, Knowledge/1 (journalism), Lockpicking/1
Songs: Motion (all/2), Tongues (Corporeal/3)
Attunements: Elohim of Revelation, Key to the Locked Mind

"Who are you?"
"On the 'net, I'm known as Chilmad."

The Internet has been a virtual Godsend to Litherites - there's a strong tradition of using unusual names on the Internet, so a Litherite's actual name doesn't arouse very much interest there. This is why Chilmad started his 'blog.

Chilmad ("teaching" or "learning") is an investigative reporter, dedicated to uncovering and exposing ... pretty much anything, actually. He got into the habit of investigating whatever story he could find when he was first assigned to Earth. So many newspapers and news magazines insisted on knowing their reporters' "full name," and Chilmad couldn't give them one, so he rarely got the chance to sell a second story to any given publication. But there are an uncounted number of bloggers who report the news under an assumed "handle." It isn't Chilmad's fault that everyone thinks his real name is a pseudonym...

He's very much "hands-on" when it comes to researching his stories - he's equally comfortable interviewing sources and breaking into locked offices (either by picking the lock or teleporting past the door) when it comes to finding secrets, and his choir attunement lets him know which secrets are important.
