Oops, got hung up on the space action part, missed the modern day operatives part.
There might be ray guns.

Are you going for "one planet, multiple races" or "multiple planets, each one or a few races"?

Because the "five hundred intelligent races on one planet" thing in fantasy tropes is a somewhat necessary, if annoying, feature of fantasy.

I'm going to keep the development of the setting and rules under wraps for a while longer until it's fleshed out more and we're closer. I need to get the structure and setting in place in my mind so that I don't casually toss off something that might change.

Fantastic Dungeon Grappling dot Net

Well, not really. Sounds fun, though.

On the GURPS Discord, someone was asking about nets. That led to GURPS Martial Arts: Technical Grappling, which does have such support, and then to Fantastic Dungeon Grappling, which doesn't.

Well, not explicitly. As I noted, there's a lot of FDG that is "some assembly required." In this case, nets are enough of a special case that a new rule is needed. I wander my way through a bit...so read on to the end.

I'm changing all grappling in my game to your FDG rules. I liked your modifications for nets. How would you do it for lasso and bolas?

I think you've captured the idea quite well.

Thanks. Rereading, I find it fun how it got honed and simplified into something that is appropriately "roll and shout" for FDG/DFRPG use.

Finally a new GB content post.

Inspired by a chat on Mook's GURPS Discord, the question of breaking out of grapples being really hard using Fantastic Dungeon Grappling came up.

Fantastic Dungeon Grapples: Breaking Out is Hard to Do

This is some idle musing, but if anyone tries it in play, let me know.

Yesterday I made a post about how breaking free is harder than perhaps it should be in Fantastic Dungeon Grappling. Is this true? Does it matter? If it does, what’s the fix?

Fantastic Dungeon Grapples: ST differential for breaking free
