I'm splitting off the discussion of current rules / different optional rulesets / etc. because McAllister is right - it's no longer on-topic for sentry removal. (Carry one with the actual sentry removal mechanics and stuff.)

So, um, what's wrong with using a silenced pistol to remove sentries?

Most "silenced" pistols are loud, also you need to get a great shot to prevent the guard crying out. Most gunshots don“t kill instantly. Hollywood loves crossbows.

More hollywoody-actiony would maybe to use some help by some chemical agents.?
The cholorform rag is a movie staple for such things - if youd actually use something that would be rapidly incapacipating and at the same time it'll cover mouth and nose then your grappling approach to sentry removal might be more effective.
Or speaking of crossbows I've heard something about cyanide injecting crossbow bolts as a commando weapon?

A 9mm pistol with no suppressor is heard at 512 yards at +0. With a top-of-the-line baffle suppressor, at 32 yards. It's still (a) not a bolt-action and (b) does much less damage than a rifle, making a brain shot even more required and (c) has lower Acc, making brain shots much much harder.

Besides, a suppressed rifle is good for undetected sniping.
