Druids are Shifty
The Druid template does not seem to have "SoD: Adventuring Companions." I assume this is an oversight, as all the other templates, as well as the pre-gen druid delver have it. (Actually all of the pre-gens have it as well for some blatantly obvious reason.)
That said, part of me is amused by the implied world building ... "Druids are shifty. Don't trust them." |

Re: Druids are Shifty
I'd think it's somewhat subsumed in SoD:Nature. And for the record, the Barbarian has a choice between the two.
Doesn't mean I don't like the idea of shifty druids. "Next thing you know, they'll be planting acorns in the town square! That's just nuts!" |

Re: Druids are Shifty
As they approach a deep hole in the woods...
Druid: Hey, knight, got a joke for you; Knight: Ya? D: Why did the tree-burning knight fall down the hole? K: I don't know... [get's pushed into the hole] AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! G: Heh, get's 'em every time. |

Re: Druids are Shifty
Been that way since I wrote GURPS Dungeon Fantasy 1: Adventurers . . . but also, I sort of see druids coming into conflict with such a Sense of Duty: "I represent Nature's balance, which means any of you fire-building, machete-swinging bear-killers might have to become compost to help out." Of course, nice-guy druids exist and the sample druid exercised the option to pick disadvantages to be such a person. But my own druids aren't like that.

Re: Druids are Shifty
Personally I like to have Sense of Duty (Companions) available as an option on every profession or character template in every game I play, and suggest it to all my players during character creation. I don't force it, but I feel it helps eliminate many a real-life argument. IMHO, YMMV, etc.

Re: Druids are Shifty
I've never heard the stereotype that druids won't work with the party before. I've always thought it was the Holy Warriors who let their principles get in the way of cohesion.

Re: Druids are Shifty
Well, when you're a thief what are they supposed to do, NOT steal? Just because it's a party member doesn't mean they're off limits. In fact, if they trust you that just makes them the perfect mark.
