Re: Gaming Ballistic - GURPS Content Posts
We end the year-long Aeon GURPS Supers campaign with a battle and a plot twist.
The final battle in the final episode of the Aeon Campaign. The B-Team struggles to contain the invasion of remnants from the void, and must perform a sacrifice in order to close the gate. We are foiled by plot device at the last moment, sent off to an unknown land as the world may end behind us. Aeon S4E11: The End of All Things

Not specifically GURPS, but not not GURPS either.
"You always fear what you don't understand." A decent line, but a great philosophy for designing RPG encounters and scenarios. One worth revisiting more than once. Fear and Understanding

Re: Gaming Ballistic - GURPS Content Posts
Got a two-fer for you on GURPSDay.
First, of course: GURPS Day Summary Mar 24– Mar 30, 2017 But also, Brandon Blackmoor is looking to run a fantasy game. He want to have folks pulled in, summoned, from other times and lands. He doesn't want class/level systems, and . . . well, he's got specifics. I think GURPS is what he wants, and say why, at length. Why GURPS? This is why (and a bit of why not)

Re: Gaming Ballistic - GURPS Content Posts
I have nothing against GURPS, and personally would use GURPS were i to run such a game . . . but if I was asked this question I would recommend Open D6 - D6 Fantasy version (basically it's a version off the old WEG Star Wars)
There's a core book, a critters book, a locations book, and a magic book Attributes 6, or maybe 7 dependent on how you handle magic, but only casters need it Skills . . . definitely less than GURPS but still more than a dozen Combat powers . . . Well advantages pick off a list, but mostly stats and skills Magic? Here be Build a Bear . . . The native magic system is VERY similar to RPM (though if you want you can buy old D6 Star Wars and use that Force system as magic) Gear list? Simplified and not near as cool as GURPS Adventures? You'd need to cannibalize from somewhere, same as setting Price? Free! It's been released as Open D6. Your entire gaming group can get all the pdfs. That's one reason why I would recommend a group give it due consideration, but it's also a good system . . . . I played and DMed it for many a year until I got converted to GURPS I'm not sure I can imagine going back to playing it now though, I like GURPS more now |

Re: Gaming Ballistic - GURPS Content Posts
A less bullet-point "use the d6 open source system" that goes into why and why not, and the modifications that you'd need. Odds are folks won't come here and see your reply to a GB thread on the GURPS forums. Too buried. If you think (and as a long-time fan of Star Wars d6, I agree this is an interesting way to go) that this is a good option, expand your comments into a larger post and I'll publish it.
If you're not interested, that's cool too.

Re: Gaming Ballistic - GURPS Content Posts
A bit of fun on this Friday, as a conversation on Discord turned to fighter capacity for space carriers. Questions on how small a fighter could be, and what would fit into a hangar, led me to look for the smallest starfighter I could find. The Viper Mk II and Mk VII were it. So here's a design, using GURPS Spaceships.
GURPS Spaceships: Viper Mk VII

Re: Gaming Ballistic - GURPS Content Posts
a follow-up post to my own on why Brandon Blackmoor, in his search for a fantasy system to run a game, should use GURPS. GURPS Forum poster and Discordian Kalzazz made a suggestion, and I asked him to write it up, and I’d post it. Here it is!
Why not Open d6?
