Potion of Cowardice vs. Out to Lunch
Question- if Player A is fighting a monster and is beating it, and Player B plays a Potion of Cowardice (Pay during any combat to force the PC(s) to Run Away, even if they were capable of beating the monsters. Usable only once.)
Can Player A then play an Out To Lunch card (Monster in this room is on break) to counteract the Potion of Cowardice and take the treasures rather than running away, since the monster wouldn't even pursue Player A now since it is out to lunch, and the Potion was played first? |

Re: Potion of Cowardice vs. Out to Lunch
My educated guess would be no. The general guideline for playing cards is that card effects are resolved in the order played, so once the Potion of Cowardice is played, the PCs are running away, whether the monster is out to lunch or not. Conversely, if the "Out to Lunch" card were played first, and there were no other monsters, the potion of cowardice could not be used, as there were no monsters to run away from.
In general, for a card to supercede another card that has already been played, the new card must have text that specifically allows it to affect the card already played. aeronaut

Aeronaut is right. Unless a card's text specifically cancels the effects of another, you have to resolve the first card before moving on to the second.
