Default Low cost animal templates

Hi All,

I'm looking for low cost animal templates for shape shifting. Dungeon Fantasy has some good high powered templates but I'm wondering if there is a source for such things as.

Wild Cat, Falcon, Hound. I'm trying to find 5 to 7 options so they have a few basic options in the low power range.

I'm trying to make a shifter template at a fairly low power level as a alternative template for dungeon fantasy (with the on the cheap Net options)

At first level they can afford an 11 point template though of course they can beef up (existing templates) and get more expensive templates later.

The idea is that the player will be encouraged to have one "main" other form but maybe 2 or 3 alternative forms as they advance.

Basically going through Dungeon Fantasy playing with the templates based on some of the alternative rule sets. Divine Favor for Clerics, Bards don't have wizard magic, Wizards won't have certain types of magic, Druids are adjusted to the Shifter template.

Totally willing to use net resources but the natural encyclopedia didn't have template costs.

They are in the Basic Set , however not point summarized. B455–460

Such as Falcon on B457

Domestic and Wild are on B263 under "Mentality Meta-Traits".

Though such lists tend to missing a few small stuff like Perk (Feathers) [1]

and most DR listings are missing (Tough Skin) limitation.

ST 3 [-70] ; DX 14 [48]*; IQ 3 [-140]; HT 10 [0].
Will 10 [35]; Per 12 [45]; Speed 6 [0]; Dodge 9 [0]; Move 2 (Ground) [-20].
SM -4; 5 lbs.

Acute Vision 3 [6]
Domestic (or Wild) Animal [-30]
Enhanced Move 1 (Air Speed 24) [20]
Flight(Winged; Air Move 12) [30]
No Fine Manipulators [-30]*
Sharp Beak [1]
Sharp Claws [5]
Feathers [1]
Skills Brawling (DX/E) DX+2 [4]-16.

Totaling [-95] Good for Allies
Now Picking Domestic, and but dropping the Hide Bound, and Changing it to IQ + 0 [0] Will + 0 [0] Per + 2 [10]
masks the Shape Shifter version would be [-20]

lwcamp's excellent GURPS Animalia has a good number of animals as templates with point costs. He's got you covered for cats and dogs, but it doesn't look like he's done any birds yet.

Which isn't how all animals' DR is going to be statted anyway; DR from thick fur or feathers might have Flexible but I haven't seen them statted with that even. For the alligator's DR4 it feels like an appropriate limitation, but seems to be absent from the dragon's similarly-defined DR7.

unmodified DR is appropriate for things like Crabs and most exoskeletons.
Flexible is great for Scaled creatures like dragons.

most Fur DR with be Tough Skin unless it very think like some arctic animal would be Flexible.

It may be difficult to have an alternate form much more fierce than a small rodent on a budget of 11 points, unless the player is willing to have their character become non-sentient for chunks of the game...

Well The Large Falcons [-95] is good for Allies but picking Domestic vetion, and but dropping the Hidebound, and Changing it to IQ + 0 [0] Will + 0 [0] Per + 2 [10] makes the Shape-shifter version would be [-20]

which would add [0] to the [15] base of Alternate Form for a Shape-shifter.

Problem is, a lot of the reasons animals are low cost is because they have really low mental attributes. Without that, all you tend to have as extra disads is No Fine Manipulators [-30], Cannot Speak [-15], and Social Stigma (varies), and that won't get you much of a template.

I don't see why you're saying that. This would mean that a poison weapon stopped by DR from fur would still somehow get into the bloodstream of the creature, regardless of how thick the fur actually was.

Cat-folk lack this on their racial DR and none of the things I've seen anywhere in GURPS saying Fur[1] also acts as an Unusual Background justifying one or two levels of DR requires the Tough Skin limitation.

That's the point needles, and insect bights can ignore DR(touch skin) but not DR(Flexible) but Fur DR will not stop a tranquilizer dart so is DR(tough skin) but some fur is thick enough to do so so would be DR(flexible)

Go Read the DR Advatange

Then it goes on about how scratch and skin contact by passes. Note Flexible doesn't have that by pass. nor does the unmodifed DR. Hens my comment about tranq darts
