Compared to Third Edition which is what Owen was doing it is a LOT more expensive. But I am good with that as I felt Third Edition was way overpowered for its cost compared to just about anything else.
I think once you hit much above level 10 you were over matching everyone else in power.

I recall 3e Psionics not playing well with other parts of the system, such as 3e Supers and 3e Magic. In 4e, with psionics, supers, and several kinds of magic all built on the Powers framework, they mesh easier with each other in tje crapsack worlds I generally play in. So that's a plus for me.

(4e default magic doesn't always mesh with the Powers framework, but stuff like Divine Favor and Sorcery, and in my experience even Path/Book, Syntactic, and Ritual Path Magic play well with the rest of the system without being overpowering or underpowered.)
