Isn't Perry Rodan a German take on Anglo-American sci fi that's cantered around to their tastes.

Never said it wasn't. Many cultures have glombed onto something American and retooled it to the local taste. It is now an aspect of their culture but there remains a frisson of rebellion and excitement in calling it American.

A space probe crashes near a small village. This is 1890, so no one thinks "space Probe", they think "Meteor" or "Shooting Star". Some adventurous youngsters go out and examine it.

The probe sends out a memetic signal that the adolescent humans respond to. They hide the probe and expose other youngsters to it. Only adolescents seem to be able to perceive the memetic signal, so only they ... learn.

By 1900 the young people of the village all vanish. They move en masse to a large city in another country, taking the probe with them. And their numbers grow.

The memetic reprogramming include language, culture, scientific knowledge, and many different skills. The youngsters become a wainscotting nation, spreading secretly in the shadows.

When World War I blazes, the secret nation arises, casting off the cloak of secrecy. A new small nation called the Dominion emerges, with advanced technology and a unity of purpose that terrifies the world. They declare neutrality and trade new technology, resisting any reconquest with weapons at least 50 years in advance and a unity of action and purpose that seems inhuman.

Fortunately the memetic signal can't be transmitted over radio or recorded with the technology of the rest of the world. But children in communities on the border are susceptible to the signal, and gradually the borders of the Dominion are growing.

Gateway
In the late 21st century, humanity has a tentative foothold within the solar system. There are thousands of humans living off planet scattered throughout the Earth-Moon system and a few transitory outposts on Mars and various near earth asteroids.

On July 6th 2089, observatories and astronomical satellites start tracking a high energy source inbound into the Solar system. Within 5 years it was clear that it was decelerating and would soon enter solar orbit. Over a dozen probes were developed and launched. Finally in 2098, the object entered into a solar orbit between Neptune and Uranus and ceased emitting energy. What remained was a small localized area where gravity was distorted. Barely detectable as stars and planets moved behind the object and then suddenly shifted back to their normal position once they emerged from behind.

The first probes reached the object in May of 2101, what they detected amazed everybody, it was a mechanism of alien manufacture creating an opening to a stable Rosen-Einstein bridge or wormhole several hundred meters in diameter. Upon further investigation the first transit was attempted and when the probe return and its data was analyzed the results were electrifying. It was not just a bridge through space but time as well.

The other end of the wormhole was in the orbit around Earth, Earth of 65 million years ago.

This idea takes Transhuman Space and crosses it with Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

This plot diverges from all that Season Eight and Fray stuff. The burst of Slayers created by Buffy's struggle with the first brought the numbers of dangerous supernaturals way down. Vamps went into deeper hiding and learned not to leave dead bodies around, mainly by killing fewer people. They also tended to get jobs and buy blood from the butchers rather than hunting people. Extra dimensional entities learned to stay clear of Earth. Over time, the numbers of Slayers around at any one time dropped, and demons became rarer and more civil (not better people, just more presentable).

As biotech gets more dramatic toward the end of the century, various demons begin to see they could safely blend in to Earth society and life a better more comfortable life. Slayers are still around, and the watchers recovered, but with few foes to fight, Slayers rarely become as powerful.

Then Azzarriel the Bold showed up. He wasn't looking for trouble. Sure, he'd been a menace for millennia, but now he saw how shallow his life had been. He just wanted a college education and a chance at a middle class job. Heck he was looking forward to paying taxes to make up for some of the royal treasuries he'd robbed. But government agents tasked with keeping the Supernatural under wraps not only quashed is admission to Bereley they told him to get out of the USA. Azzariel was furious. And he had one wish left on his wishing talisman. So he wished the secret exposed!

It's 2100, the secret is out, Magic is real, Demons are real, Vampires are real, and those folks work nine to five jobs too. Which do you want to face, the fires of Hell, or cubical land?

Find your scary!

Notes...

Slayers are powerful and can gain Super St and other power by paying for them with experience points earned by fighting monsters (this is a game mechanic, in game it's known that only those that fight Monsters regularly get really powerful). A normal mature slayer that has been around a few years but not fought monsters or lived near a Hellmouth Has ST 20 and both DX and Ht in the high teens. Superjump is available, as are Damage Resistance and the lower levels of Regeneration. But any other Slayer powers (including Monster detection and precognitive dreams) are bought with experience points earned by fighting monsters. Buffy, now an old lady (though still about as tough as Seventh Season Buffy), got to be about as physically powerful as Glory and a far shrewder fighter.

PCs can be Half-Demons, this allow the purchase of many super powers including things like super ST, Unaging, Teleportation, and Magery. However, many, but not all, charms and wards against Demons effect Half-Demons.

This setting is low Manna except near a Hellmouth. The Hellmouths are rated from one to ten (Sunnydale's was an eight). The Rating of the Hellmouth times 2 gives the radius of High Manna around a Hellmouth, The Hellmouth rating times 5 gives the Normal Manna area. Note: if the area of a Hellmouth's effect covers a natural area of Normal Manna, then it extends clear across that area without penalty. Thus, if an area of Normal Manna started 12 miles away from a Level Four Hellmouth, and continued for sixteen miles, then the Hellmouth's normal manna area with extend to 36 miles.

A colonial project is going on on Planet X. The problem is that there is a sexual bias in settlement patterns for some reason or other. The plot centers around correcting that to make a future viable colony.

Precedents include the "King's Daughters" in New France, and the "Mercer Girls" in Oregon. Harry Mudd also is an idea.

Is it just colonists? Or is there a similar bias in genetic colonists as well?
