Innate attack based on ht/dr remaining
I have a fellow new player to gurps wanting to make an interesting character. Basicly a sentient lava blob. We have most of what's needed, but none of us can figure out how to make an innate attack aura that lowers in strength the "colder"/ less hp the character has, or how to factor in adding more natural dr as they cool off to signify the lava turning to stone.
If there's any way this could be done I'd be very grateful for the help. |

Re: Innate attack based on ht/dr remaining
If there is no change in character points, as in the DR gains as many character points as the attack loses, and the character has no say on how the points are divided among them(strictly based on remaining hit points). I would call it even in effect so just pay the points for one.
A RAW build would have each level of DR could have corresponding innate attack as alternate ability and then you would need to assign an accessibility for not being able to control and less activation time. But as said if they have no control I would call it even effect. |

Re: Innate attack based on ht/dr remaining
So 1 dr per 1 point of damage? I can't remember seeing how to charge for 3-5 points of damage since the book says each partial die is worth .3 points. Chargeing per die of damage lost seems like it would be unreasonable?

Simple example: Innate attack burning, aura +80%, melee -30% and likely -20% for inconvenient as it sets things on fire and cannot turn off costs 6.5 points/1d damage Basic DR is 5 points/level. That uneven number between those two makes things a bit tricky as the first number where you get the same number of points exactly is 10 attack/13 DR. But buying the aura in 2d+1 damage increments comes fairly close as it costs 14.95 points rounded to 15 and 3DR is 15 points. So if you set suitable checkpoints and at those points reduce the aura by 2d+1 and add 3 DR. I do not know how high you want to make the aura but say you use 45 points on it, giving 6d+3 aura and 0DR when at full health or close to it, then after next step in being damaged they would have 4d+2 damage and 3DR, then at next step 2d+1 damage and 6DR and when really badly damaged 0 damage and 9DR. |
