Character builder and International Measures
Hi, I'm using GCB to create my characters, and I would really like some info on how(if it's possible) you can print instead of lbs and feets, kgs and meters. Is there any way?
Thanks a lot. -- Zarnick |

Re: Character builder and International Measures
If you have the program fully updated, with all the data files, you should have a variant data file called "Variant Basic Set 4e - Metric Equipment". To load it, go to Tools - Options - Data Sets, and click Change. You'll be given a list of data sets to add to the list, which should include the file I mentioned. Once you add it, click "Load Now". Your character details should now appear in metric.

I can't help you myself, sorry. Someone should be able to though. Good luck. :) kelly_pedersen: Unless Zarnick's mistaken about which program he's using, giving him instructions for GURPS Character Assistant (GCA) won't help him much with GURPS Character Builder (GCB). ;)

Re: Character builder and International Measures
Thanks, but since I've told, I'm using GCB(I just didn't find a board for it), and using 3e still, since they have not yet translated the basic set to my own language(but they will...I know they will..hehe)
Thanks a lot. |

I don't know whether the answer is there or not, but you could try going to the Meacreator Website (GCB is a specialized build of Metacreator that was licensed by SJ Games for 3rd edition), and looking on their Discussion Board, or possibly the FAQ. Failing both of those, I believe there is a Support contact thingy at the bottom, and someone with Alterego Software may be able to help you out.

Re: Character builder and International Measures
Well, I've send an e-mail...hope they can point me some directions...also...one more thing...in GCA is there any character sheet that will print just like the 3d edition sheets?
Thanks a lot. |

Re: Character builder and International Measures
Well, this is actually exactly what Metacreator answered to me, however I'm using GCB 2.1.4, and this isn't working(or at least it isn't changing anything...) I'll take a look at GCA, and maybe I'll even start using 4e...
Thanks for the help :D |

Re: Character builder and International Measures
Also, just another question, when using GCA, someone(I don't remember the name now, but it's here in this post), told me to use the "Variant Basic Set 4e - Metric Equipment", what exactly this changes? The size of the equipment? The weight of them from lbs to kg? Since I couldn't see any changes....can someone give me some light?
Thanks a lot. |

a) the basic Lift stat and b) the equipment weights It doesn't seem to change the range figures for either equipment or innate attacks, nor does the default character sheet give a new range table in meters. However, meters and yards are close enough that I usually just treat them as the same if the issue comes up - you'll get some errors at long ranges, but it's well within my tolerance for that sort of thing. |
