Default GURPS Monster Hunters 6: Holy Hunters

"Demon" is a word
The righteous use for Evil
When they have no clue
— Percy Katt, Monster Hunter
When spiritual and religious beliefs come up in roleplaying games, one of two things generally happens: If it's fantasy, people just Make Stuff Up, and holy folk serve deities like the Great and Powerful Greeble, God of the Summery Land. If it's another genre (and sometimes in fantasy, too), they go with generic forces of Good™ battling nameless forces of Evil™. There are excellent reasons for this, including being respectful of players' beliefs, avoiding trouble with critics who associate gaming with devil-worship, and cutting corners on world-building (inventing plausible, detailed faiths is hard work, as GURPS Religion shows).

GURPS Monster Hunters 6: Holy Hunters does an end run around these challenges by respectfully adapting real-world faiths to give your GURPS Monster Hunters campaigns a little verisimilitude. It presents summaries of belief systems suitable for those who battle Evil firsthand; suggests skills and abilities for the devout; offers new abilities, all of them tied to or customizable to particular creeds; and concludes with a bestiary of monsters taken from the religious traditions discussed in the supplement. Even if your team includes no crusaders and nobody with the clergy lens, this supplement will add depth and detail to encounters with Evil.

Know thy enemy, know thyself.

Definitely picking it up once the paycheck goes through. How does it handle the far eastern beliefs like Hinduism, Buddhism, and the Chinese Folk religion?

Buddhism gets an honorable mention, the rest, including Taoism and Confusionism get close to a page each. you get a decent amount of explanation on each religion along with suggested skills and abilities.

I got this & liked it a lot. I'm looking forward to using it in my MH campaign.
As a religious Jew I was interested in what it had to say on Judaism. I liked the treatment in the book & agree on what it has to say overall.
I think a lot of what it has to say on MH crusaders will also be of great value to me, in my DF campaign set in Banestorm, for clerics & holy warriors.
Thanks for another great product.
