Default Can I put a curse in front of me, but not activate it?

I want to put a curse card in front of me, but not activate it, simply to avoid charity. I want to save it for later. Am I allowed to do this?

Thanks,
John

No. Only items can be played in this manner (to the table, sideways), and curses are not items.

No it is not an item so you can't "carry" it in front of you; however, you can play it. If there are conditions to it like "discard a big item"but there are no big items in play then I would assume that you could still play it but it would have no effect. Though I could be wrong. It may not be playable.

Curses are always playable, even if they have no possible effect.
