Occasionally Reliable Amulet
If a player has this and is hit with a curse and rolled a 1, then played a wishing ring the curse is gone, but is the amulet as well?
Basically, can the player use the wishing ring to save the amulet since either way the wishing ring cancels the curse? |

Re: Occasionally Reliable Amulet
I would think that if you use the amulet, you must resolve the effects of it first before a wishing ring could be used. If that means discarding the amulet as a result of a die roll then that happens before the wishing ring is played.

Re: Occasionally Reliable Amulet
The player can choose to use the Wishing Ring first, which means the Curse never happened and the Amulet doesn't need to be checked.

Re: Occasionally Reliable Amulet
true but if they use the amulet first and it fails, then you lose the amulet correct?

Re: Occasionally Reliable Amulet
That's correct. Once you make the roll, you have to live with it.

Re: Occasionally Reliable Amulet
It sounds like I have a choice whether to use the Amulet or not. Is this true?

Re: Occasionally Reliable Amulet
I haven't looked at my cards and can't remember exact text. However this situation described in the OP is a very specific situation and not too much should be read into it. Hopefully someone else will answer. If I remember to get my cards out i will look at the text and give an opinion.

Andrew's posts were pretty clear taken together:

If you choose to make the roll, the Wishing Ring can no longer be used. You chose to use the amulet. You have to use the Wishing Ring to cancel the curse immediately, not retroactively. |

Re: Occasionally Reliable Amulet
I guess I could have worded it better... If I chose to wear the Amulet, does it automatically take effect or is it like a Wishing Ring that I can decide to use or not. I'm assuming I get to choose, but I'm new to Clerical Errors and the question just came up.

Re: Occasionally Reliable Amulet
That's not what I took away from the posts. He meant that once you roll the die, you have no choice on taking back whether or not you use the amulet. You can still use (and lose) the ring after that. It's just a question of how much you're willing to sacrifice at the moment.
