CAPRICORN

Real Name: Dawn Fury (alleged).
Occupation: Professional criminal, alleged former sailor and ship engineer.
Identity: Secret.
Legal Status: Citizen of the United States with no known criminal record, wanted by federal authorities for questioning in relation to a number of crimes.
Other Aliases: None.
Place of Birth: (allegedly) Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, New York City.
Marital Status: Single.
Known Relatives: Nick (alleged brother), Jake (alias Scorpio, alleged brother).
Group Affiliation: Zodiac; head of her own criminal organization; frequent partner of Scorpio; allegedly formerly the US Navy.
Base of Operations: Detroit, Michigan.
History: Very little is known about the past of the woman calling herself Capricorn. There is circumstantial evidence to suggest that she is Dawn Fury, the younger sister of noted CIA field agent Nick Fury and the professional criminal Jake Fury, more commonly known by his costumed alias, Scorpio (see Fury, Nick; Scorpio). If Capricorn really is Dawn Fury, then the following is true:

Dawn Fury is the youngest of three children who grew up in Hell's Kitchen, in Manhattan. Both of her brothers entered the US Marine Corps when they came of age in an effort to get out of the Kitchen. Idolizing her brothers, Dawn enlisted in the Navy, intending to follow intheir footsteps, but was discharges a several years later under the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy when she was caught in a lesbian relationship with a fellow sailor. Her whereabouts since her discharge are unknown.

Not long after Dawn's discharge from the Navy, a new player appeared on the scene in the Detroit, Michigan, underworld. This woman, calling herself Capricorn, rose to become the leader of the city's organized criminal cartel, often by killing the other leaders and acquiring their operations. It is believed Capricorn was mutated into her present form by the Zodiac's scientists prior to making her move to control the crime in Detroit (see Zodiac).

Capricorn has been seen many times working closely with Scorpio, often deferring to his judgment and leadership. During the Zodiac's attempt to hold the island of Manhattan hostage, using a force field powered by Scorpio's Zodiac Key, Capricorn was openly critical of the plan and sided with the rogue faction abandoned the plan as the city's superhuman adventurers and crimefighters mounted their final combined assault against them.

While there is evidence pointing to Capricorn being Dawn Fury, there is also evidence to the contrary. First there is her relationship with Scorpio, which has at times seemed more romantic than familial. Also, a woman matching Dawn Fury's description was seen in Manhattan during the Zodiac confrontation, though it is unknown if that truly was Dawn.

Other Distinguishing Features: Capricorn's body is covered with a coating of light brown fur. In addition, her feet have been altered to be digitigrade.

Known Superhuman Powers: Capricorn possesses superhuman agility and superior striking power with her feet. In addition, she appears to possess superhuman durability, though she is probably not bulletproof.
Other Abilities: Capricorn is a skilled melee combatant, proficient in savate. Dawn Fury was a skilled naval mechanic, cross-trained in repairing and maintaining a wide range of on-board systems.

3. I'm intentionally leaving it vague as to whether she is Nick and Jake's younger sister. In my mind, yes, she is; however, in any game, LMDs can always be involved.

Okay, here's a long, multi-post list covering Iron Man and Captain America (both Tales of Suspense), Thor (Journey into Mystery), Ant-Man/Giant-Man and the Wasp, Hulk, and Namor (all Tales to Astonish), Human Torch, Human Torch and Thing, Dr. Strange, and Nick Fury (all Strange Tales) and The Avengers.

I’ve listed the characters in order of appearance in their title, so if you see a character you don’t want to appear yet, you can cut the list for that title there and still be correct (though number of appearances may drop). I’ve given number of appearances both to save space and give an idea of how important the character was. I haven’t counted team appearances in with individual appearances, so, for example; the appearance counts for Cobra and Mr. Hyde don’t include their appearances as a team, likewise the appearances of the (Wingless) Wizard and Paste-Pot Pete don’t include their appearances as a team or as part of the Frightful Four. Some characters have already been done by you and I apologize in advance for that.

I’ve provided some notes that may be helpful reminders/interesting happenings about some characters/titles. In general, these listings cover the characters’ appearances before they got their own title (with the exceptions of the listings in The Avengers and the early listings in the Hulk. Split tales of the Hulk in Tales to Astonish start with the listing for Giant-Man.) There are a number of villains that cross-over into other titles, for example, Magneto’s Brotherhood of Mutants shows up in an issue of Thor and Iron Man’s Black Knight fights Giant-Man and the Wasp. Finally, some fights are listed twice from different perspectives, for example: Hulk fighting Giant-Man and Wasp in Hulk is the same fight as Giant-Man and Wasp fighting Hulk (at Human Top’s instigation).

Edit: The dates after the character names are the cover dates of the comics. Some stories, especially in the split titles were multi-issue, so they actually can be compressed. Another point is that Marvel time proceeds at a 2:1 rate, two tears of real time equate to a single year within the comics, so some of these stories are probably getting into Second Year territory.

Notes: Unusually for me, this list includes first appearances of some technological props. Nick Fury’s first appearance as an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. actually occurs in Captain America (see that listing). “Dum-Dum” Dugan and Gabriel Jones both served with Fury as Howling Commandos back in WWII, so they know Nick from back when. Gabe is a jazz musician playing the horn. “Dum-Dum” was originally a strongman in a Boston-based circus. According to the “Origin of the Howlers”, he and Fury teamed up with Capt. “Happy Sam” Sawyer prior to the Howlers formation in the UK. “dum-Dum” was Fury’s 2 i/c in the Howlers.

The Howlers are mostly still around at this point and have performed occasional special missions as late as the War in Viet Nam (chronicled in the Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commando Annuals.) At this time, the other Howlers are: “Reb” Ralston, U.S. senator; “Pinky” Pinkerton, owner of a keyclub (like the Playboy Mansion but British); “Izzy” Cohen, owner of a garage; “Dino” Manelli, who hosts a TV variety show; and Eric Koenig, commercial pilot (for Lufthansa?). Happy Sam is a general in the Pentagon. Oh, and Nick’s old rival, “Bull” McGiveny, is still in service, too.

Note: Paste-Pot Pete’s appearance is not as a villain. He helps remove Baron Zemo’s Adhesive X from one of the Avengers in exchange for a sentence reduction. Consulting him was the Wasp’s idea.

Additional considerations: Jack of Diamonds from Cyclops origin (revealed about X-Men #44 as a bsack-up story but set before X-Men #1 should be included. I’m not sure but I think his power was that his body was diamond-hard and looked like a diamond.

You haven’t said yet, but a number of heroes and villains from WWII and earlier ought to be kicking about even though they won’t show up/be revamped until later in the comics: Whizzer; Miss America; Toro (original Human Torch’s sidekick); Namorita/Namora; Golden Geisha; Human Top (Boy Commando version); Spitfire; Union Jack; Baron Blood; U-Foe; Dracula; and Adam, Frankenstein’s monster.

Okay, here's a long, multi-post list covering Iron Man and Captain America (both Tales of Suspense), Thor (Journey into Mystery), Ant-Man/Giant-Man and the Wasp, Hulk, and Namor (all Tales to Astonish), Human Torch, Human Torch and Thing, Dr. Strange, and Nick Fury (all Strange Tales) and The Avengers.

I’ve listed the characters in order of appearance in their title, so if you see a character you don’t want to appear yet, you can cut the list for that title there and still be correct (though number of appearances may drop). I’ve given number of appearances both to save space and give an idea of how important the character was. I haven’t counted team appearances in with individual appearances, so, for example; the appearance counts for Cobra and Mr. Hyde don’t include their appearances as a team, likewise the appearances of the (Wingless) Wizard and Paste-Pot Pete don’t include their appearances as a team or as part of the Frightful Four. Some characters have already been done by you and I apologize in advance for that.

I’ve provided some notes that may be helpful reminders/interesting happenings about some characters/titles. In general, these listings cover the characters’ appearances before they got their own title (with the exceptions of the listings in The Avengers and the early listings in the Hulk. Split tales of the Hulk in Tales to Astonish start with the listing for Giant-Man.) There are a number of villains that cross-over into other titles, for example, Magneto’s Brotherhood of Mutants shows up in an issue of Thor and Iron Man’s Black Knight fights Giant-Man and the Wasp. Finally, some fights are listed twice from different perspectives, for example: Hulk fighting Giant-Man and Wasp in Hulk is the same fight as Giant-Man and Wasp fighting Hulk (at Human Top’s instigation).

Interesting stuff, but as I noted some time ago this is a Day One Reset of the universe, not a calculation of characters solely from the '60s. (In fact, I've gone ahead and worked in a few characters from the '70s and '80s, plus at least one character that was retconned in during the '00s). Many one-shot characters (such as the "Phantom Whose Touch Means Death") and the WWII heroes won't be showing up; the one-shots because there's a reason they're one-shots (they never took off), and the WWII heroes because they're retired and/or passed away from old age at this point. (Remember, the Reboot is officially set to 2010, not 1962-69.) Namor and Namora are pretty much the only WWII-era folks other than Captain America still kicking about, and Namor has a nation to run (Namora's his envoy to the UN). Baron Blood has an entry, and Drac's going to show up sooner or later in some form.

Updated Agent Phil Coulson. Basic changes: increased DX, IQ, and HT by 1, lowering Will and Per by 1 (keeping them at 14), and updated skills to match new attribute levels. Makes him a touch more competent. Also added in his Legal Enforcement Powers that I had in my GCA file that didn't transition to the entry. (o.O)

I'm working on editing Nick Fury, though it seems I have to rebuild his GCA file from scratch. (I'll also be editing his bio to account for ideas I've entered in other entries since I posted him originally.)

Of the big changes, I expect to alter his social traits quite a bit, adding in his CIA Rank built on the stuff in Pulling Rank, possibly removing his sister as a Dependent (since her whereabouts are officially unknown, though see Capricorn a few posts up...), and probably altering/streamlining his combat ability.

Thoughts on what else I should alter?
