Default Belt items?

Code:
Page 16
Your Belt
If an Item is not worn and does not require Hands, then it is carried
“on your belt.” Typical belt items are one-shots, mostly Scrolls and
Potions. You may have any number of Items on your belt.
My question is after reading this is, do you need to have your potions and scrolls on the table to use them?

In the same page, in the opposite side of the part you quoted is written

Quote:
An Item card in your hand does not count until you play it. At that
point, it is “carried” or “worn.” One-shot Items may be played directly
from your hand into a combat, but you may also put them on the table
(see Your Belt, below), making them carried, to get them out of your
hand.

As a new player, I'd like to point out what I believe to be a good reason to take items such as Potions and Scrolls out of your Hand and put them on your Belt (on the Table, as a Carried objects):

- items on your belt and not in your hand do not count as items in your hand when it comes time for Charity. In other words, the items in your belt do not count toward the maximum number of cards allowed in your Hand.

Of course, if there's a doozy of a potion/scroll that you do not want your competition to see, then you might choose to keep it well hidden in your Hand instead of laying it on the Table.

I'm still reading through the posts, so this may already be covered elsewhere and I might not have seen it yet, but this begs the question: do belt items have to be put face-up on the table? My wife and I chose to, but doing so gives the competition a chance to gather intel about your ability to affect combats.

Cards in play are always face up.

To avoid confusion, it's best not to capitalize "hand" when you're talking about the concealed cards you have yet to play. "Hand," capitalized, is a game term referring to a pair of slots that can be filled by certain Items (usually weapons).

I agree with your analysis of why you might want to play cards from your hand to the table.

All cards in play are public information. If you want to conceal a card, it must stay in your hand.

Can NON-one-shot items (i.e. rings) be used if they are not on the table (i.e. in your hand)?

No. Only one-shot Items can be played to any combat from the hand.
