I have 'Step and a Half' now. Yay for my first promo card, not counting the ones I got with Munchkin Rigged Demo. Got it from a store when I went to buy TGtBtM day after thanksgiving and they told me it wasn't out yet. I told them it was. I don't think they believed me. They said they'd call when it came out. No call yet...

Tell them I ran 2 GBM events on the weekend of 11/2, so I'm fairly certain it was out before Thanksgiving (unless you mean Canadian Thanksgiving, which comes a month earlier). ;-)

A bit of thread necromancy, but for the record, I was at SJG headquarters over the weekend and had a couple of these made up. They are indeed meant to be shuffled in. They aren't meant to be new rules so much as a custom card. For example, SJ made one the Evil Stevie Hireling for me. :-)

Yeah, it's the Cthulhu Cursed Demo cards, the ones that have "Promo" written on the back, that are used like bookmarks. I don't know of any others (but then I haven't seen all the promo cards so there may be more--speak up anyone who knows otherwise).

That's the first time the Promo card back appeared, but there are a couple of other cards that work that way. The promotional Cult Membership Card is a prime example; it doesn't have the Promo back because that design didn't exist yet.

If we ever reprint that card -- if -- I'm going to push for changing the back.

I would expect no less. It would make for an interesting situation, though - two different editions of a promo card would just be kinda nifty.

I think this is the right thread to ask this question on:

I've just acquired a promo Cult Membership Card. Am I to understand, as I think I do from reading the thread comments, that I can use this card like a bookmark and that I don't have to put it in the Door stack of cards and hope that I happen to draw it?

I just wanna be clear on how to use it before I do use it during tomorrows weekly Sunday Evening game.

Also, would you say that it can be used during ANY Munchkin game or should it only be used during Munchkin Cthulhu games?

Thanks

I just found this set of rules from the Munchkin Cthulu Cursed Demo Rules posted online:

Promo Backs

There’s a new kind of card-back in this set. “Promo” back cards are not shuffled into the decks before the game begins. Instead, you may place one (face up) in front of you at the start of the game and use it when applicable, like bookmarks and other Munchkin promotional items.

A player may use only one “Promo” back card during a game.

I think that answers both my questions.

Thanks.

We had a first of what will be many monthly Munchkin meetings on Saturday. I would like to get some promo cards to give out. So far I've had no response in trying to contact a regional MIB. If there's any on here from central Indiana who could help, please let me know. We had five who met at Reader Copies in Anderson.
