Lovely point. I could see a mage having a hissy fit because even casting fireballs can't convince anyone that's he's a mage.

Off in the far future there's this semi-dystopian overcrowded hellhole of a planet that said "<pfuh> carrying capacity? Worrying about carrying capacity is for for wimps" And there's this nearly uninhabited planet where 40,000 colonists arrived last Tuesday. And there's a planet with crystal spires and togas, with really advanced technology and pretensions toward utopia. And there's a planet that was developed but not overdeveloped and doing great until the Imperial invaders arrived to occupy the metropolitan centers. And there's a planet where the locals are big into goopy biotech. And there's a planet where it's a lost colony filled with TL 3 fortresses and liege lords.

And they're all the same planet just with different histories. And for some reason the boundaries between the timelines happen to be really "soft" here. Soft enough that people on the right hallucinogen or meditative trance can look into the other worlds and the right psi powers or technology can let people physically move between them.

Lovely! Pick your sci fi tropes put them on one planet then decide if you want drama, comedy, horror, intrigue, or suspense. The campaign could freely jump genres. It is and you are brilliant.

In the mid 21st century (most folks say it was the year 2047 but there is room for doubt) seven other realities invaded Earth's reality. These parasitic realities feed on Earth's realities and erased them. The new realities imposed new rules limiting or expanding qualities of the Earth's previous reality. The Earth people in the overwritten lands forgot who they were and were absorbed into the new realities. Though a few retained dreamlike memories of the past lives. Those that retained their memories could travel freely between realities and even cause reality quakes that can shift the limits of the new realities.

In Ireland, Britain, Scandinavia, Finland, and the Baltic nations the Morgahl kingdoms, a Sword and Sorcery reality, came in. France, Germany, Poland, Spain, and Italy, The Paramount Union, a fascist society with a cyberpunk technology came in. Egypt and most of Africa east of Tunis and north of Nairobi is now ruled by Sutekh and his Empire. Much of the USA and Canada is covered by the Stellar Imperium and the emperor's Psi-witches and Psi-knights hunting down all resistance. The Truly Revealed Gods rule Indis, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Burma. What rules China is unknown. They don't communicate and no one has returned alive to bring any news out of China. In Antartica, a new mountain has appeared. It is clearly at least two miles and a half taller than Everest. Strange cities have been seen in the distance. There is evidence of contact with strange aliens who can be understood as people and the nanotech robohorrors that track them down. All of these realities reject any form of government other than dictatorship or monarchy, constitutionalism and equality are excluded by design.

In Bermuda, which is still under Earth's reality, mages from Ireland who still remembered they were born Irish and raised as Socialist Radicals, met with Renegade Psi-witches who remembered they were Americans and raised as Labor Radicals and lived as Radical Feminists, and they planned revolution. The catalyst that made their dreams viable was a crackbrained sci fi fan who had actually written good episodes for both Doctor Who and two Star Trek series. His wild imagination and odd mystic gifts let them create a new merged reality. It blended the realities of the Mages and Psi-Witches but blended in the social vision the other realities exclude.

The form into which these realities were blended was a tree. This tree is a living reflection of the Liberty Tree in its many Forms. Each sapling of the original tree blends the reality pattern in its lifeform into the nearby reality. This blending is a healing power that makes the primal reality of Earth stronger, transformed, but not erased and overwritten.

The PCs are renegades against the vampire realities fighting to both nurture the saplings of the Liberty Tree and to awaken the enslaved people to remember who they are. As more people remember who they were and still are the Liberty Trees bloom and the new blended and healing reality takes hold. The invaders fear and hate this. They seek to destroy the Liberty Trees and the very ideal of Liberty itself. Meanwhile, in the remaining lands of Earth, this new radical egalitarian reality is seen as just another invader in those lands that rejected democracy and liberty before the reality wars. The PCs will be hunted throughout the Earth.

In the year 2070, the aliens arrived. Their fleet was vast and they made it clear that if humanity resisted they could just drop rocks on us.

Their goal wasn't exactly conquest. They knew we'd need to evolve along our own path culturally. They were pleased that many of our societies were democracies and fairly egalitarian, displeased with the ecological mess (though their technological aid did much to fix the crisis), but they insisted on certain changes.

The aliens believed that true spiritual evolution of society wasn't possible unless people were physically androgynous, and the average person able to either sire or gestate children. The aliens didn't hold our biology against us, that would be bigotry, they simply started to round up Earth's children up and modify them.

People objected. The aliens had means to deal with objections.

Basically, the PCs are in the human resistance fighting to preserve the children from forced sex reassignment and transgenetic modification.

Note: The androgynes are taller and stronger than normal Males their reflexes and endurance are better than normal females. They were designed to be superior to ordinary humans physically and mentally and to also outlive ordinary human lifespans by a factor of three. They also all have psionic potential. Not surprisingly, many Androgynes are pleased with their bodies and sexuality. That doesn't mean that they won't support other humans fighting for the right not to force their children into involuntary modification. But there are also plenty of Androgynes who are fanatics for mass transformation.

This is a simple piece of weirdness. It's 2030, the aliens have landed, Earth is conquered, it is our darkest hour. Arthur returns and he's got the Tuatha De Danann with him. Morgain Le Fay hands him a horn and the old gods and heroes of many different lands return. The world is now high manna and the Fairies are rounding up people with magery to teach them magic.

The battle is on....

Sounds like a variation of Camelot 3000 though that in that comic Morgan Le Fay was the enemy of Arthur.

I blame Hollywood. Always insisting on making Morgan more of a villain than the original was because Hollywood needs villains to structure its stories.
