This strikes me as the sort of thing you might get when fairies or werewolves are protected from recognition by a veil of glamour or hallucination. Particularly "glamour".

Witnesses report seeing four young women dressed only in bikinis stealing solar-charged Christmas lights.

Off the coast of The Bronx, at the far western end of Long Island Sound, is a small island once used as a infectious disease hospital. "Typhoid Mary" lived out here years here. Last use was over forty years ago, as a drug rehab clinic.

The place look maaaahhhh-velous now. Any GM who can't look at these photos and not start thinking of scenario ideas may as well hang up the dice bag and take up TV and hoarding cats as a hobby:

Perfect for a semi-realistic Umbrella Corporation.

There's a lot of hidden access vents and escape hatches throughout the world's cities disguised as normal houses, giving a direct access to the underworld.

There's a flying saucer house not far from where I live, and I've wanted for a while to "build" an underground home with a blue Police Box "interface" (for mail, deliveries, etc.) at the road.

Now tell me that that mundane explanation doesn't sound like a cover up from a conspiracy game.

Even worse - they removed the pipe, but now there's something else...

They did not heed the first warning. They will rue the day...
