Re: FnordCon Painting Contest
I'm happy HBS made the Honorable Mentions! I'm really proud of how that piece came out.

I might be a wee bit biased, but yours is number one in my eyes!

Re: FnordCon Painting Contest
The whole field of entries was really good and hopefully the turnout inspired many others to take up the paints to bring a larger field of inspiration next time!

I'm really impressed with how well your "speckled" technique comes out.
Awesome. |

Re: FnordCon Painting Contest
Ha! I honestly hadn't considered that.
What I love most is that each of the winners of the photo portion used a different technique. Richard painstakingly cut out tiny stencils and painted with an airbrush. Cat does some sort of dark magic with spray cans. Jean-Francois went with careful shading. And I built up layers with washes and drybrushing. There's no one "best" way to paint; just do whatever feels most comfortable to you, and the results can be surprising. |

Good thing I wasn't judging this. I would've bashed my head against the wall trying to decide. They all look excellent to me.
