Default Enhancing monster for extra treasure

While fighting a Potted Plant ( Level 1, 1 Treasure ) as a high level character, could I enhance the monster ( say, Enraged +5 ) I am fighting to gain extra treasure?

If my character is strong, I could whip an Ancient & Humongous Potted Plant to get 5 treasures.

The argument is I can't strengthen the monster I am fighting for greater loot.

Thoughts?

I am almost certain this is completely valid. I'm also mostly sure they reference this in the rules. I don't have my set with me, but I am confident it's no problem.

Your play was legal. You can enhance a monster you're fighting alone and you can wander in a monster onto one you're fighting alone.

Perfectly legal, just so long as you remember that everyone else still gets to do stuff to the Monster to make it harder to beat, too.
